    If you just splice it in you're changing the impedance. Not generally a good idea.

    The amp is designed for a specific load. Speakers provide that load. If you put a greater load on the amp than it was designed to handle it is more likely to fail.
    Could blow up, but doubtful. What load does the stock system provide? What are the specs of the amp? Specs of the new piece? Specs of the existing system plus the new piece?
