I know this is a ridiculous thing to discuss, but has anyone tried the new and "improved" formula yet? Nestle sold the candybar rights to Ferrero-Rochette (spelling?) and the new version is absolutely awful. I encourage those of you who love Butterfingers to go out, find all of the original Nestle bars you can, and store them for the future. I found a 36-bar case at a local Dollar Store on clearance and I'm hoping that the original, better formula makes a return before I run out.

I'll never understand why iconic, significantly popular things like this are ever changed.

    Quoted from whthrs166:

I have a Butterfinger Story.... Went to a 7/11 when I was about..... oh 12. Bought a Butterfinger, (this was when candy bars had paper wrappers) stepped out of the store and took a bite... swallowed and thought this thing tastes a little funny. Looked down at the candy bar and it had these little bugs all over it. So I went back in the store, picked another Butterfinger and went to the counter. I asked the lady there... hey mam can get another one these please? She said sure why? I just showed her the Butterfinger with the bugs... and I thought she was going to pass out right there! She said "just take it and go!"

That's disgusting indeed. No bug better lay a finger on my Butterfinger.

It no longer sticks to your teeth or gums (bummer), and it's like a salty peanut butter layer over a less crunchy center...not nearly as sweet. All of the Nestle ones in our area are essentially gone. All of the Nestle ones were sold on clearance from all of the places that carried them and I was a bit late to the party...damn.

    And what did you think?

I agree that Hershey's chocolate isn't as good as it used to be. At least they're still not screwing up Reese's PB cups, because then there would be a major crisis.

I believe they sold Baby Ruth too but I think that recipe is not being changed. I think they changed the Butterfinger recipe specifically because of how it stuck to your teeth like glue, but damnit, that's part of the experience.

Oh, it is so...it is nothing like the ones those of us who like Butterfingers grew to love.

It's the advertising campaign. Says it on the wrapper and in the commercial.

    Quoted from JayDee:

Out of curiosity, who’s making this “improved” claim?

Scoot, you're currently my hero for both the great meme and the awesome Aliens avatar.

I have a case of 36 bars that I'm going to be sad to open, but it's happening soon...

I have had and enjoy 5th Avenues a lot...but Butterfingers are pretty delicious in their own way.

Anyone remember "New Coke" circa 1985...

I was 2-3 years old depending on the time, so no, but I've heard all about it!

    Irony...

I was just watching Seinfeld and the episode where George has the big Gortex coat was on. Kramer pretty much dupes him into buying a Clark bar...I guess I need to try one sometime.

I'm glad so many agree with me that it's ridiculously wrong to change the Butterfinger recipe. On another note, I had one today after it had been in the freezer a while and my teeth shattered like glass when I bit into it like in the old Looney Toons cartoons. Totally worth it.

I should also state that I'm really a doctor (not bragging...believe me), and if my patients only knew about my eating habits...
