It's hard to ignore games like T3, WPT, HRC, RCT and Nascar when they pop up for $2000-2500. What other modern Sterns have you seen in this range, and which is your favorite?

#2 4 years ago

I can still ignore RCT quite easily in that range, the others possibly. WPT is well worth it and T3 as well

#3 4 years ago

Playboy is a real hoot.
Great dots, toys, music and sounds.
Only problem is the game is way too easy for my liking.
I still miss mine

Austin Powers is fun and in that range

#5 4 years ago

Where have you seen these? I haven't played any on that list, but the theme of T3 seems the most appealing.

When I troll Craigslist in our area, it's mostly games priced way out of my price range, by "dealers".

I dont even look at Craiglist anymore. Too much work. I find it easier and more fun to contact local collectors and periodically ask them what is next on the chopping block. You may even line up a trade in the process. How many "steals" on Craigslist are steals after you have rush to get there, deal with someone who knows little or nothing about pinball and buy parts for them up to get them working?

Because of this I know where 2 Nascars, a WPT and T3 are for sale in GA at $2500 for T3 and $2000 for Nascar and WPT. Some you may know of, PM me and I will tell you contact info if you need.

Gapas, mentioned above, and Pinball Bash are good also.

I've been on GAPAS for a long time, but somehow was dropped off the list back in 2007. Back on now.

There were a few decent deals recently on CL. A $2500 CFTBL, $600 HS and one that I thought must have been a joke.

MM, CC, and MB for $12,000. The ad said their spouse left her and the kids, so she was selling his pins. Included crates. Ouch !!!

Not saying there are no deals, but who doesn't go on line and find pricing on an item before they sell on Craigslist? If you are computer savvy enough to put an ad on Craigslist you can check prices on Ebay first.

The MM, CC and MB games are most likely to be picked up in Nigeria, where the ad was placed from.

rbion will sometimes come up in that price range, if you see it buy it, super underrated game.

Right on the money! These are my favorite "bang for your buck" Sterns. Owned T3 & WPT both a few times over the years.

#13 4 years ago

Wheel of fortune is a great game, rules and game play are different which makes it appealing

I've sold Austin powers,t3,rbion, all under 2500 or less unshopped the past 6 months.. So maybe I should go up lol

#15 4 years ago

Is $2000 a good price for a routed WPT with good playfield and scratched cab? I just want to flip it for even money in a year after I clean it up.

I'd love one, never seen one in the $2-$2.5k range unfortunately

#17 4 years ago

T3 is a good game that I enjoyed while I had it.

#18 4 years ago

High Roller Casino is very under rated. Great toys, great modes, great wizard modes, great multi balls, original theme.

Bringing home Nascar tonight!

There's a really nice WPT on CL in Atlanta right now for $2000

#21 4 years ago

I just picked up a Grand Prix which is our version of Nascar at a great price, I cant begin to tell you how much fun it is, I really love this pin an every one that is coming around for a game is getting hooked on it!! its definatly the fan favourite at our place at the moment, what I love about it is that everyone can understand it, you don't have to be a pinball wiz to know whats going on , because most guests that pop in don't get into pinball to much because it just confuses them, where they can get into this game and don't have to be a fan of the race, its great to see so many people having fun around a machine!! This is definatly one of my favourites and can be picked up at decent price..

#22 4 years ago

Besides the games mentioned, Sharkey's Shootout is sub $2K (closer to $1500) and is a fun game for the money.

I really need to look into that title, because from what I have read I would like it. Someone in Atlanta get it, keep it until I have money, and then sell it to me.

I was going to say Playboy myself. I think it is a hard sell because of the theme. I parted with mine too soon, but I sold it at a price I couldn't refuse after buying it for a price I couldn't refuse.

As for too easy? I have to ask...did you ever get to the 4th Mansion Mania? The insert for it is a different color, surely that means something about the 4th one was different? 2 was the most I ever hit in one game. Something else I always tried to do, but never did was to see if I could get a second Mansion Mania while IN A Mansion Mania. I know you keep collecting playmates while in Mansion Mania and when it is over they go back to January. I always wondered if you past December while in Mansion Mania if it would count is as a second one by lighting the insert and adding all the balls back.

As curious as I was...I never did pull the glass to see what happened.

I can vouch for this WPT...I would have bought it but Nascar is my son's favorite pin. I have to admit to some guilty pleasure playing it myself (I don't like the Nascar theme, but it's a great player).

Sounds like this post should've been posted in your "confessional" thread Glad you are enjoying it. I find I like a number of games that are regularly trashed on this forum, like Sharkey's, Cue Ball Wizard, and I'm really liking Avengers at the moment.

I can ignore all of those for those prices.

AP, Monopoly, Striker Xtreme and Playboy can be had for those prices, and I would find those tougher to ignore, although I probably still would.

AP I have always thought was a seriously great game, and then they stripped it down, called it IM and it became the best game I've ever played, so I don't think I could justify it, but it's good.

Monopoly is fun. It has a few code eccentricities that holds it back a bit for me, but I think it's the best Lawlor / Stern pin, and I'm some weirdo that thinks it's better than all of Lawlor's B/W DMD era work. Yeah, go ahead and call me crazy.

Striker Xtreme I have seen sub $1000 as recently as two years ago. The game is actually really fun, it just has a few design flaws, namely the VUK not being able to manage multiball well.

Playboy I have found can be set up difficult and that makes it pretty fun. I wish Stern didn't go quite so realistic with the theme, and I don't like the female announcer voice lady, but otherwise, it's decent.

I swear you will ! Go for it!

I am a bit surprised WoF is actually worth more than WPT in the US.
No saying that WoF is bad - I will buy one some day, but among the "sub-sterns" with questionable themes and artworks, WPT has my preference.

WPT is a great $2k game if you are at all a fan of the show or poker. The callouts are the real people from the show and the game play and toys are pretty great for a $2k machine.

#32 4 years ago

My Wife likes NASCAR and I like WPT. I would like a new pin I think Happy Wife Happy Life is the rule so time to find a NASCAR !

Yes, I just saw the ad. It's certainly in my price range, but I don't think I would like the theme. I have always been truly bad at poker.

Now, if you should decided to put the Star Trek or LOTR up for $2K, let me be the first in line to grab them.

#34 4 years ago

I'm actually kind of amazed that these 2k Sterns aren't scooped up by new collectors. Great price, minimal maintenance - what's not to love? If I had more space I'd grab 'em all just to play 'em.

That could be dangerous as the stampede might do you some damage....

Here's a link to the CL ad -

atlanta.craigslist.org link

I figured I'd post it to make it easier to find since you have to scroll through the 100 ads by the local CL spammer that show up every other day to get to it.

I didn't post it on Pinside because I thought it would go pretty quickly locally. Guess I was mistaken...there is one interested party but nothing has been finalized yet.

Patience my friend...it'll sell locally, I have no doubt. I'm going to send this to a bunch of my pin-curious poker fanatic friends at work on Monday.

These Sterns you mention are like moped's really. They are cheap, efficient and fun to ride, that is until your friends see you on one.

New to pinball - yes go buy one and have fun. Once you get more experienced those pins just don't have enough street cred with collectors. Their prices also bump into better player games also like FT, JM, HS2, WCS, ES, etc., which more people have on their want lists.

They are still fun though, are good values and are newer. I would get Nascar to offset my intense, butt kicker IM.

#40 4 years ago

It's Judge Dredd and Demo Man all over again. GREAT games that no one pays any attention too. Buy cheap and enjoy or pay more later. People used to walk past JD and DM for $700 all day long.

#41 4 years ago

Holy shit, you guys can get WPT's for under $2,500 and you are not jumping at this?? By far out of that list, WPT is the best machine. The rules are frickin' awesome. It's like AFM (rear PF) meets TSPP/LOTR rules.

Gotta disagree there. WPT blows any of those games out of the water.

Just wait until you play this sucker in December for the EOY tourney. I cleaned and waxed it tonight, and it'll be a fast game with brutal outlanes.

Ripley's isn't a sub 2500 machine...

Quoted from Matt_Rasmussen:

Ripley's isn't a sub 2500 machine...

Oh, yes it is. Even if it's not priced at $2500 or lower...it's still a sub-$2500 machine. By a mile.

#47 4 years ago
Quoted from Matt_Rasmussen:

Yea. Ripley's gone nuts since it was digitized in Pinball Arcade.

Playboy's pretty cool but the wife wouldn't be too happy with the theme. Too bad Sopranos doesn't fall into this price range. The wife would be VERY happy with that one. She loves Tony and the gang.

Were talking what they sell for, not if you like a machine or not. I'm curious what your machines are.

#49 4 years ago

I sold mine for less than 2500 about a half a year ago and don't regret the money I got for it If you find the right seller you'll get a good deal.
