Just because you can buy a 1960s mustang... would you get more enjoyment out of restoring it yourself?
That said; given he's building his own cabinet... and his own PF ... it seems unlikely his bom cost is going to be anywhere near the 6k pricetag you quoted.

Which is why I never bought into Autodesk (or is it Adobe?) buying all these properties. Whoever it is; made sounding like buying EagleCad would be great for the longterm health of that product. As far as I can tell; they made it much worse... so I'm staying on the old license I have.
I refuse to pay a monthly "fee" to use software in a subscription model... the only exception might be the os... and even then; I might have to move to linux if that happened.
