This was the game that impressed me the most at PAGG this weekend. That large dmd was really impressive. If cdmd or anyone else created those for other games, I would buy them for my games even though I already have cdmd in them.

I am going to have to vote for on the fence though. I think I would only want the le, but I am not willing to preorder without a guaranteed, and quick, shipping date.

Quoted from pinballinreno:

Call Rick at PPS, he might be able to give you an update on production numbers.
What nice is you can pick up locally and save big time on the shipping.

I will try that, but I thought these were being built in Chicago at Stern?

Quoted from pinballinreno:

CGC (Chicago Gaming Company in conjunction with Churchill cabinet company) built the original AFM playfields and cabinets for Bally.
They are not being built by Stern, CGC has setup an assembly line dedicated to AFMr.
PPS is a distributor for CGC and a lot of other pinball items, and also holds the rights for bally pinball products.
PPS (Rick) recently moved into the reno/sparks area and you can pick up at their location.

I was mostly questioning where they were built based on your comment that I could save a lot on shipping since I am local to Rick. I will ask him about it.

Thanks

Quoted from Wickerman2:

Ha...opposite for me. I don't look up at the screen enough to care. For bystanders or on location the big one is worth it for sure. The big dots were a little weird as well. Reminded of a convenience store lotto sign sort of. People seem to love it though!

I didn't notice big dots. I just noticed the higher resolution since the images were redone using 4 times the number of dots.

Quoted from Wickerman2:

It appears to me to use the same resolution dots as the MMr color upgrade, they are just bigger to fit the bigger screen. These are dots aren't they? Maybe I'm using the wrong word...but dots is what I would describe them as...not saying it's a Stern display or anything. You guys are sensitive about your DMD's!

The score shown does look like is just bigger, which would make sense...it is just the score, not really an advantage to trying to make it look different. Look at CGC's afmr page, and you will see comparison images. On some of them, there is a significant upgrade.

Also, I think the trolls on the mm pic are higher def than the original game had.

Wow
They couldn't ship the pin and mail you the manual? I'm sure you wouldn't have protested.

If it isn't stapled in the cabinet, the machine loses at least half of the value for resale.

Ok. Martian Green, don't like it but I get it whatever. Black. Boring. Stainless? Traditional. I get that too. I would think that 'Red Planet Red' would make the most sense to me anyways. .

I remember when I first heard about the green. I thought it was a terrible idea. When I walked up to the game at Pagg, I realized how wrong I was. It really does complement the game.

Does anyone know who makes these?

I went to the web page and can not order them.

They could still be in the prototype stage.

They were on the AFMrLE prototype at PAGG, and the backbox ones definitely did not look like a finished product the way it was mounted. Functionally it looked great though.

Quoted from markp99:

I lifted just a few inches and had my wife slide-in my Harbor Freight lift table, and finished the lift with a few pumps on the lever.

Easy peasy.

I just rip off the side of the box, and set the harbor freight dolly about a foot from the box, and lower the pin down on it. Then I can put all 4 legs on pretty easily.

Quoted from pinballinreno:

I would absolutely love to do this!
But my door is too narrow to wheel a game into my house in the box.
So I have to be creative

I am pretty sure I can fit one, but I won't know for sure until my LE gets here. My gameroom was in the garage in the old house, so i never had to worry about that.

I will also have to handtruck the game down the hill outside to get down to the basement. That won't be fun. I hired movers to bring the other 10 games down there when we moved. lol
