Quoted from Dkjimbo:

yes - very firmly I do. There is no business case for them to build them and sell them any cheaper! They will justify the price with some new bells and whistles, LEDs, ColorDMD, whatever but 100% yes - you wont see this machine for less than $8000-$9000 no matter what.

then it will not sell well at all. period.

Sorry but with that being the price range for DI and far over the price for Aliens or Spooky #3, then it is obvious at this stage that more people will go to those games if looking to spend NIB money.

With MM, you have originals selling for more than MMr. AFM in nice condition are quite a bit less than that price.

Sure you will get some sales, but an upgraded DMD and some special (crappy gold, lol) wont cut it IMO.

there is a reson this poll is trending 10 as no sale... and we dont even know a price yet.

other thing of importance for people to remember is that MMr was essentially built by Stern.

AFMr is supposedly not being made by them. Where we have seen most other issues in NIB pinball is when it comes to the manufacturing/ contract manufacturing. Heck even the crappy Stern PFs are due to outsourcing of that part and associated issues.

The new maker of AFMr is a while new ball of potential issues. Just something to keep in mind.

Afm isnt a pin that comes up a whole lot in nice condition ..when it does its over 8k if it has color dmd and some other nice mods. I see no reason y a nib afm wont sell well at 8k especially with warranty, color upgrade , shaker and powder coated trim . Guess will see what happens but if i didnt have one allready id be interested for sure.

I have seen 3 in the past year for 6500-7000 and all were nice games with colordmd and little fade cabs and nife pfs.

Hell, a Bryan Kelly restroation with mirco pf swapped in, plus a bunch of great 1 off mods solf for under 8k just last year.

AFM comes up ALL the time, in often good playing condition and if they had been maintained they have a nice pf and usually already blinged out.

Quoted from Yoski:

The smartest learn from other people's mistakes and avoid those mistakes in their affairs.
Most will learn from their own mistakes. They learn the hard way and then there are those that never learn and make the same mistakes over and over again.

that smartest category is also often the most boring just saying...

Sure be smart with your money, but if it is expendable funds then it is OK to live a little and making mistalkes is all part of the fun in life.

I want to add something since PPS decided to contact me. I am not going to war over an entertainment device, or sabotage future sales. I will gladly contact for clarity, and I would enjoy a sales flyer if available. It is great you want provide me with more information, just let me know if I have to sign some type of NDA.
I have watched way too many manufacturer shenanigans since even before WMS fell or even the BLY Industries merger to just watch on the sidelines another pingazoo again.
I call this "hyping the hype".
IF people misinterpreted my comments, I NEVER stated the game would NOT be remade, a manufacturing contract was not established, or that production could not be started in a short time after reveal.
That is the perogative of the company, not private collectors.
The release statement for MMr and associated content was industry standard, but AFMr has nothing presently.
I only caution that a person should understand what constitutes a reveal, a release, and an actual produced game in order to AVOID speculation on behalf of the general community.
Potential buyers look closely at specifications, features, and timelines when/if they become available.
Remakes cater to a specific type of buyer, not normally to collectors, but rather more to players and owners. There is sometimes massive confusion in terms of the differences of an original run, rerun, reproduction, and remake. They are not all identical.
Good luck on your efforts PPS.
I look forward to the MSRP with the formal statement as that provides indications of potential sales volume, title viability, health of the industry, and state of the new machine market among other important information which I track.

you gave GREAT advice!

Sad to hear they continue to spend more time on contacting individuals with I presume the standard issue mr personality phone call?

The proof is in the pudding and your advice is clear that people shoudl think twice before buying on hype.

I have and love MM - Never played an AFM, is it very very similar?

probably the most similar of all games in comparison to MM.

95% of people if asked what game is most simialr to MM, would reply "AFM" That is not a bad thing, but most people I have known with both MM and AFM have gotten rid of one and kept the other as they found them too similar for the space and value.
