Quoted from Skins:Just looked over the pictures again. So the standard doesn't get the silver script Bally logo on the speaker panel? Using up all those speaker panels that were supposed to be used on mmr?
It's not silver script. It's on the LCD display being viewed through a cutout. Which is a little cheesy, IMO.
Quoted from Atari_Daze:Can someone explain the hype over another game remake / reboot for me? Is the pinball world like Hollywood with almost no original ideas any more? What am I missing?
It's all supply and demand. The hobby is getting more popular now, and top titles are in high demand. The people holding the license see that there's money to be made when people are shelling out 8-10k+ for old machines, so they jump in and make new (and improved?) ones.
Quoted from Pinballlew:The pinball market has grown so there is room for original games which we see being made and still there is demand for remakes.
Damn. Beat me by 6 seconds.
Quoted from Skins:No, zoom in on the standard. No script on the bezel. The middle priced one with same speaker panel has the silver script. The super duper le has the LCD cutout for the digital logo.
I stand corrected. I just assumed they were both the same.
Quoted from Skins:I may be wrong. Tough to see the middle one. Still no Bally on the standard is lame.
I think if they're using the larger screen on both models, it wouldn't make sense for them to create 3 different speaker panels. My guess is that it's on the screen.
Quoted from alveolus:More AFMs in the world is only a good thing, present owners notwithstanding.
I'm an owner, and I still think it's great.
Quoted from Mike_J:I'm going to guess he hasn't seen a 32 since he was 13.
If you're talking about women, he probably hasn't seen a 13 since he was 32.
Quoted from LTG:I can't speak for Rick.
But if I read through over 300 posts ( on one of several threads ) of people bitching and attacking something I was trying to accomplish. And so much information that is wrong. I'd probably be a little testy too.
LTG : )
I'll give you that there's a lot of that on Pinside; a lot of negativity in general. But when you're running a company, you need to listen to the trends in the negative feedback from possible customers. Many people in here have rejected the green armor - that seems to be a pretty solid consensus. Others are split on the bigger screen and topper...even the speaker grills and lights.
You've got to have a thick skin and take the good with the bad. It's what helped Jack make The Hobbit better and will help him tweak Dialed In. It's what will help Rick make the top two models of this game better as well (and that's why not pricing it yet is brilliant). He has to filter out the noise of varied opinions and look for trends.
I think the classic model looks great...just like the original, and it allows people to mod a new version of a classic game to their liking.
Quoted from NeilMcRae:I like the green.
I love the speakers and the speaker lights and the DMD and the topper!
I've told my disty I want one and would like it ASAP
Cheers,
Neil.
Hooray! One sale!
EDIT: You stand to have the most rare AFMR ever made!
Quoted from Zitt:unlikely. a BK machine is better than NIB. I don't see them dropping in price.
A standard player's quality sure... but not a recently BK restored AFM.
Exactly. This is what I've been saying all along. If you have a fully restored game...and I mean FULLY restored to a "better than factory" state, I'm not sure how that's not more desirable to people who value originals over remakes. And there's not many that are that nice out there.
