Quoted from ForceFlow:

Hmm....the lit speakers and large LCD look kind of goofy to me.
Since they went with green trim, I wonder why they went with blue lights on the speakers instead of green, yellow, red, or orange.

If you look at all the pictures, you can tell that they're color-cycling. SUPER PINSIDE MOD STYLE.

Quoted from Rarehero:

Rick said no more trim options after MMr. Lol

Quoted from mamemaster:

Can't figure out why all the mystery on pricing...just post it already!

Damage control...

Quoted from Rarehero:

I think the giant screen looks cool! If ColorDmd made "Jumbo ColorDmd" kits, people would be all over it.
Green trim is dopey. Rick said no more trim options after MMr. Lol

The analogy to ColorDMD isn't good - because this will include new art to take advantage of the bigger screen, while a ColorDMD can not in the current design.

And Trim Options. Well they aren't options... its buy level X and get the standard trim for it.

But I imagine the LE will change it's tune unless they've already ordered a ton of parts.

#105 3 years ago

No other options than the green trim as of now? Hopefully that will be reconsidered with the feedback coming early and often.

Quoted from vid1900:

Bally is making slot machines nowadays.
I'm sure they don't want it to appear that they are making pinball too.

I find it interesting that they can display a Bally logo in that fashion but can't include the logo on the cabinet.

Guess: 7.5K, 9K, 11K

I saw that large LCD/DMD screen thing on a TAF posted here not too long ago and people hated it.

I think if I were remaking the classics, I'd leave them 100% bone stock, with the exception of offering a couple colored trim options at the cost of having them powdercoated. That's it. If I've learned anything in my time in the hobby and here on Pinside is that 5 people will give you 7 different opinions on what looks the coolest on any given machine. I'd think it'd be best business practice to remove yourself from that customization process and just make one thing well that lets people do whatever they want to with it when they get it. Sure the profit margin is better on that green, huge screened model, but you might not sell as many as the standard model this time around.

Pretty sure the speaker kits are rgb adjustable?

I'm looking forward to seeing the eight different versions of the next remake.

Different warranty periods is BULLSHIT! The green looks like shit! Pricing is going to be #@%$!

No big deal. I'm sure their customer support will be just like it was with the first remake.

#113 3 years ago

Internal coin mechs are chromed on the LE. Can't wait!

Green trim on the LE? Yuck. Black or maybe red would have worked, but green? Color blindness at CG apparently.

Yeah, it's probably the same guy who missed all of the faded inserts on MMR.

I'm sure the current Bally company does not want tech calls about a new pinball machine.

I'm sure the current Bally company does not want to be brought in on a lawsuit for an injury/fire involving a new pinball machine.

Quoted from JY64:

For all those thinking of pre pay for LE if Gary or Jack is not doing the build forget it

This important comment was pretty much overlooked as people are already watering to put down pre-order money on this title, something that was once said would "never be done again" on PPS remake projects. Lest we forget how the first game went there would have been a MUCH longer wait for the 1000th MMr to be built had they not made the wise call to sub out the building to Stern. If it's true that Gary isn't building this one realize there really is zero track record of Chicago Gaming building pinball machines themselves, unless you want to look back to 2001 or so. That title was a little gem called Vacation America. Invest your dollars wisely lest we repeat the cycle of frustration from years ago.

Interesting the different warranties.. assuming the machines are all the same parts (aside from trim and bling), you're basically making the warranty part of the "LE" package by extending it for a year. If this warranty includes in-house service, expect the price of the LE/SLE to easily exceed 5 figures, as I'd expect people will likely be using it!

#120 3 years ago

The video just posted on facebook shows not only are the speakers LED lit. They appear to be game controlled and multicolor as well. So not just cycling, but actual game code controlled.

#121 3 years ago

Will this come with a playfield insert/LED diffuser? That was such a fantastic and free addition to MMr!

Excatly.. it's just another way to bundle in a 'feature' to help justify the price.

I expect these to probaby be 8-12k for the range on the conservative side. LE could even be much more...

I think the theory is that an LE will be home environment with a lot less plays and potential damage. Heck you can warranty it for 10 years as long as you don't touch the game or turn it on.

#124 3 years ago

Is the Standard version less reliable? No. They should all have the same warranty.

#125 3 years ago

Wow, this is a long awaited announcement. One of my top 2 favorites. But pleeeeaaase no green trim!!! Black would look great, red would be okay.
I would buy the CE, but that trim would probably change my mind to the Special edition and then powder coat it myself.

#126 3 years ago

this company Chicago Gaming, have they already built pinball tables or are they going to have to set up a new operation, get factory space, get production machines, set up a production line, hire people, etc.?

Problem is that you lose the topper with special edition but I'm with you.

Link?

#129 3 years ago
Quoted from Toucanf16:

I would say because of too much licensing.

if The Pinball Arcade could do it without a kickstarter, i'm sure PPS would have no problem getting that license. it's just one license - Universal.

Of course they have made other pinballs:

So the jumbo screen...is it gonna be like when you parents can't figure out how to work the aspect ratio? Are the aliens all going to appear to be short and fat?

#134 3 years ago
Quoted from Atari_Daze:

Can someone explain the hype over another game remake / reboot for me? Is the pinball world like Hollywood with almost no original ideas any more? What am I missing?

it's a great game. lots of people would like to own one. many people aren't really interested in rareness or the "authenticity" factor, so buying a brand new game with guaranteed finished code and excellent gameplay is appealing.

#135 3 years ago

Please note. These three examples of AFMr are prototype machines. Things may change slightly upon production.
Buyers of LE can request to have their game in Stainless or Martian Green.

Quoted from NorCalRealtor:

Nearly every business now sells 'extended warranties' - This is you getting one thrown in for the price you paid for that tier.

Poors are rougher with their Standards compared to how the Grey Poupon crowd treats their Extra Super Limited Editions.

That's a problem? Really?

No, it has the custom art like the MMR color upgrade. You can see it already in the videos posted that show the attract mode.

#140 3 years ago

As an owner of an ori gi nal, I'm so happy to see this finally coming into fruition. It's great to know others will soon get to own AFM, and hey, if it has some bells and whistles mine doesnt, who cares. It is such a fantastic game, and this is a game everyone should be able to own.

By far, the pricing will be the big snagging point. Such a shame if they price it too high, what good is a fresh supply if most people are priced out? Sure hopen initial feeling about pricing are wrong.

Glad to see AFMr. I couldn't care less if it negatively affects the value of my original. Glad there be more out there.

SSUUUUPPPPPER JACK-PPPPPAAWT!! Oh baby!!!!!

Quoted from o-din:

I'm guessing-
$8,999 classic
$10,999 SE
$14,999 LE

My guess
$6,999 classic
$7,999 SE
$8,999 LE

#147 3 years ago

Well, 3 different models was an unexpected surprise but I like what they've done here. Looking forward to trying these out at TPF, SE looks nice!

Sorry, but just like when MMr came out if you own an original you are not allowed to comment on the re-make, and if you do you will be called a Troll.

Sensible.

And as they are already producing stainless, it is simple for them ( and probably cheaper than the green! )
