I'm guessing Stern was throwing out some GB paint...........

But seriously, that green looks bad. I'm not a big fan of the larger display either.....to each their own, but not for me.

Quoted from jgentry:

Games look nice, the green trim is a swing and a miss though. They need to switch that over to a gloss black.

yep

#53 2 years ago

Features are better on the Le. You could always change the armor...

#54 2 years ago

what was the original msrp on the afm?

Yeah classic should be no more then 6k

#56 2 years ago
Quoted from J85M:

I'm interested in a classic but if those prices are anywhere close I'm out.

Woody can help take care of the poor bastards with the green trim!!!!

As for all of the people acting like this game is going to come in at a discount, well you are dreaming. They are not going to setup manufacturing and do it in house for less. I'll be happy if the classic is under 8K, but I'll also be shocked. Pinball is not getting cheaper, they will fall right in line with stern, jjp, etc and charge as much as they think they can.

Just looked over the pictures again. So the standard doesn't get the silver script Bally logo on the speaker panel? Using up all those speaker panels that were supposed to be used on mmr?

Classic at 8k and they will not have that many to manufacture

It's not silver script. It's on the LCD display being viewed through a cutout. Which is a little cheesy, IMO.

Exactly. For the people saying it will not sell. The distributor I deal with already has 6 sales from people that don't even know what the price is yet.

#63 2 years ago
Quoted from jgentry:

is anything?

People will buy it. Price complaints and anti-remake activists aside, they likely made a boatload of money on MMr and will make money on this. It's fun to complain on the internet though

I don't doubt that at all, and I am sure some folks are going to be lined up at their door when they get back home. But the real test is in the sustained sales. There is always a surge when announced, but I'm betting this will pale in comparison to MMr sales for several factors....especially if the price is higher....and you know it will be.

#65 2 years ago

Yeah if the classic is 8k then this game will be dead in the water

just think how many they would sell if it was priced correctly. the more you make, the cheaper it should be to make them

Can someone explain the hype over another game remake / reboot for me? Is the pinball world like Hollywood with almost no original ideas any more? What am I missing?

The pinball market has grown so there is room for original games which we see being made and still there is demand for remakes.

It's all supply and demand. The hobby is getting more popular now, and top titles are in high demand. The people holding the license see that there's money to be made when people are shelling out 8-10k+ for old machines, so they jump in and make new (and improved?) ones.

No, zoom in on the standard. No script on the bezel. The middle priced one with same speaker panel has the silver script. The super duper le has the LCD cutout for the digital logo.

Edit: I think your right about the two but the standard is still Bally-less. Lame.

If they would ever make king pin or Big Bang bar they would have my order

Apparently when they stole all that stuff from Gene, the Capcom licenses were not included

I suspect by TPF... a large number of us will be very disappointed in the pricing.
Its really the only reason why they didn't provided pricing with the hype train in my opinion.

I stand corrected. I just assumed they were both the same.

You have plenty of options if you don't want a remake.

Do you know who has them then?

It's a remake of a very popular game. Many people own it and others want to own it (like MM). Since its old, most of the games are blown out and restored games are expensive. Getting a NIB AFM is something very desirable to some people that lack the time and resources to restore a game. For most though, it all comes down to price but there are some that will pay jacked up prices. I guess we'll see! I think it's great to see another classic remade. YMMV

I'm wrong. Tough to see the middle one. Still no Bally on the standard is lame.

#81 2 years ago

My guess for pricing.

$6999 Standard

$7999 Special.

$8999 LE

#82 2 years ago
Quoted from maddog14:

Adjusted for inflation, the price you would be paying (as a route operator) would be $5,300 today

#83 2 years ago
Quoted from Skins:

I think if they're using the larger screen on both models, it wouldn't make sense for them to create 3 different speaker panels. My guess is that it's on the screen.

I think it is strategic that they haven't announced pricing yet...release some info, talk to their distributors to figure out interest levels then release the pricing brackets that they have preset to better gauge which brackets they think will get the most money to what they think the market will accept.

Quoted from Pinballlew:

Right now Kenzo Tsujimoto.

More AFMs in the world is only a good thing, present owners notwithstanding.

I'm an owner, and I still think it's great.

For all those thinking of pre pay for LE if Gary or Jack is not doing the build forget it

#90 2 years ago

MMMr standard was/is $8k, why would they charge less than that for AFM standard/classic?

Agree.

But original is original is original

Three years later and the prices of all recent games going up with plenty of buyers says they wouldn't.

Bally is making slot machines nowadays.

I'm sure they don't want it to appear that they are making pinball too.

Exactly, it's likely to be $8, $9-10, and $10-12k for the three models. The pinball market is very hot right now, has been for a while and is growing fast again. These will sell pretty well. I'll own one one day.

#97 2 years ago

Cool glad there will be more of this awesome pin for people to get and maybe now people wont keep trying to buy mine every week lol. Definitely not fan of green trim and still not sure about large screen but i suppose it will look nice with upgraded graphics. Also curious what the tri color lightning on the ships do exactly . Glad the game play is the same as many others were talking about prototype features which i figured wldnt be added. Now it comes down to pricing of course and i think if they can have it at 7500, 8500 and 9500 it will sell pretty well considering a minty original sells for 8-11k depending on the restore and mods. More pinball is good pinball especially of such a fun pin...

Hmm....the lit speakers and large LCD look kind of goofy to me.

Since they went with green trim, I wonder why they went with blue lights on the speakers instead of green, yellow, red, or orange.

#99 2 years ago

I think the giant screen looks cool! If ColorDmd made "Jumbo ColorDmd" kits, people would be all over it.

Green trim is dopey. Rick said no more trim options after MMr. Lol

Nothing is brighter and cheaper than blue LEDs.

That's why every single TV, DVD, Cable box, and whatever is covered with them.
