This of course also hedges on the ability to produce games in a reasonable time frame.

That's the real key. If I'm in I will wait to buy one in stock somewhere. Let the bugs work out. It isn't easy to assemble a game. I can wait a year or two.

#702 2 years ago

I'd be incredibly shocked if the price was $5,500 for a standard.

#703 2 years ago

Even with shipping , color upgrade and shaker you wld still be under 6500 which wld be very nice.

Me too. Fingers crossed, though. Can you imagine what that would do to the secondary market on originals?

#705 2 years ago
Quoted from gweempose:

I really hope you're right about that $5,500 price point, Hilton. It would mark the first real competition Stern has ever had in the pro market.

Original AFMs were around 3650 in 1996.. in today's dollars, that's 5700. If AFMr classic comes in at 5500 I'll buy Rick a drink!

#706 2 years ago

I'm not optimistic on the price, but this is an opportunity to move the needle (I mean big sales if the price is correct and it's a popular pin like AFM) hopefully let JJP see that $9000 is not the new normal. I'm pesimistic meaning that this will likely be priced in the $7-8-9K range.

You'd have enough money left over for some big boy pants

That's what I said earlier. There will be a lot of low to medium dollar pins on the market.

Quoted from arcademojo:

Not that I think it will happen but just food for the thought. If they price these to compete with Stern pro on up there will be some heads exploding. It would turn the market upside down. Could you imagine a NIB AFMR basic at $5500. Crazy man, just a crazy thought.

I'd buy a nice original for $4000!

#710 2 years ago
Quoted from rubberducks:

How many people would keep it original if they were the same price? Despite what anyone says here, I'm guessing less than 5%.

Why would they be the same price? I think there are Lot of people who want the "original" (I use that in quotes because I know it's not exactly original) looking DMD over the bigger color. It's a lot easier to make it a money upgrade for them then give it away for free. It still needs to be standard considering it's called the 'classic' version. That way the price is lower for people like me who don't care for the bigger display.( I have a hobbit so I don't need anymore 'big' screens )

Congratulations Rick and team, you really hit it out of the park on this one!
Well done.

Yes, wait on the real numbers.

I think most will be disappointed after options and shipping are tacked on.

#714 2 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

may be the case.
I mean lets be honest. If Stern can pump out new games at 5100 delivered... seems like someone like CGC can pump out a remake at 5500 plus shipping.
They of course have the advantage of saving on all the cabinet costs since no mark up for your own product. They also have all the assembly line knowledge. They also have some of the development issues worked out from MMr stuff.
Only seems logical to hit at that 5500 price point. Also seems like the way to really take market share and establish yourself as a player.
This of course also hedges on the ability to produce games in a reasonable time frame.

Totally agree, CGC will want to keep their new pinball line busy and if 5.5k is the pro price I will say they will be very busy.

The game plays like a dream, the price point is exactly what people want.
The big display is easy to see from far away at a bar, the colors and animations are incredible.
The speaker sound with sub is deep and impressive.

An original game totally restored looks pale in comparison to the new modernized version.

I just love what has been accomplished.

#716 2 years ago

At $5500 they won't be able to keep them in stock. Absolute no brainer decision for someone that was even thinking about getting an AFM

That's the whole point.

#718 2 years ago

$5,500 just sounds too good to be true. How much is the standard MMr? $8K? There is no way they undercut MMr by $2,500. I hope I'm wrong.

Maybe not by that much, but wasn't some of the cost of MMr due to fact that they were manufactured at Stern? That would add some overhead that AFMr may not have to account for. Maybe?

The game has not yet been played by you, or anyone else outside CGC...
The prices haven't been announced yet...
The game hasn't been placed on location yet...
We've only seen videos of the display so far...
We haven't heard the sound system yet..

But thank you for continuing the Pinside tradition of assumptions!

we've had a game here in Sparks for review, feedback, and WMS approval in NV since the first of Feb ... Sparks is very near Reno

This game looks great. Can't wait to play one this weekend at TPF!

Pricing has been released in the UK.

£6995
£7995
£8695

For reference, MMr standard is £8295 standard, £8695 with colour for the DMD.

Obviously going to be quite a bit cheaper than MMr in the US, but ~$6000-6500 looks likely.

Very interesting. Looks like someone jumped the gun over there. This gives us a pretty clear picture of where these things will be priced here. As I suspected, the classic will be a lot more than $5,500.

Based on this, I'd say $6499, $7499, and $8299.

extrapolating from those numbers.

if £8295 is available for $8000 in US
£6995 is 85% of £8295, so 85% of $8000 = $6800.

A classic model around $6500 seems possible, but those saying below $6k were probably dreaming.

#729 2 years ago

Going for $6499 for the standard for sure.

#730 2 years ago

Let's not forget there is a lot of tax in the UK prices

6995 pounds = $8754.24 US

#731 2 years ago
Quoted from Kiwipinhead:

Hence why I included the MMr price for reference.

I think it's unlikely this goes for below $6k. If it does, then either CGC or the UK distributor has decided to increase margins in the UK market - seems unlikely when there's a squeeze from Brexit and surging consumer prices from weak Sterling.

Didn't CraziLevi and rd play it at the show last week in Texas?

Well from looking at the recent posts $5500 would be pleasantly surprised, $6500 not so much.

And RD was kind enough to snap a few photos to show how well that modern clearcoat holds up after a few days use.

A good reason to wait a year before purchasing to see how things come together.

Cows instead of saucers

The scoop definitely needs a factory installed Cliffy.

Or at least a few months to see how things are handled under warranty.

Or a Mantis! I usually prefer Mantis protectors on new games, if they're available. Cliffy's are great if Mantis doesn't have a protector, or if there is existing wear.

Remember, these games are just samples for the shows.
Actual production games will most likely have addressed this.

I think the LE's will sell out fast.

How were the tomahawked and barely readable insert ink playfields on MMr addressed?

That cosmetic defect was handled better than BM66 and GB issues. So much hypocrisy .

They learned a lot from that fiasco, the current MMR PF's are really nice.
CGC/Churchill made the original AFM playfields and are making the AFMr ones.
They look really good.
