Swoods…thank you for the write up…I plan on doing this. Where did you find the screen? Everyone seems sold out that I have checked with.

Im after a full set of green plastic protectors…they seem soid out everywhere. Any leads for me?

Thanks.

#9585 2 years ago

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I have sent a few emails to Pinbits…no reply.

Was wondering if anywhere else might have the all green sets. Not seeing any so just thought Id ask.

#9589 2 years ago

Mr. T…

I would be interested…

Quoted from wolftownjeff:

Here you go.
I have these and like them very much. I have them in most of my games.
https://www.shop.freddys-pinball-paradise.de/index.php?n=60&s=980&e=50&m=&p=1&o=1&guid=&l=1&q=

Thanks Jeff… I saw those. Unless my Google skills are failing me they appear they would cost about $120 shipped. Does that seem right to you? I very well could off on this… but probably more than I am willing to spend just to get the color I want…

#9597 2 years ago
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:

I might have a way to get them made, but would take significant effort on my part assuming I could (I would have to remove mine, create traces, and create outline paths in Illustrator). I'm checking with a source to see if he's already done some before.
I know it would depend on price, but how many owners would be interested in a set if I could get them made? I'm guessing final price would be around $60 for the 8 piece set. More than what others have charged, but then again you can't really find them anymore.

I just wanted to update… I found a set. Thanks to Kristen at Mezels…. Dont rip apart the machine on my account!

Just finished installing bill Ung’s mini saucer expansion kit. Also has the hallway leds and backbox dimming with pop bumper control as well. Very well laid out kit. Check his videos at ufopinball.com
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I should be getting my kit any day…pretty stoked. How difficult was the install? Any tips/advice would be most appreciated.

You better get some pics on here when finished!

Just a big time shout out to Bill Ung and UFO Pinball. I ordered his AFM remake Mini saucer LED Plus kit…with the “hallway” lights. Its just a fantastic kit and his customer service is second to none. Had a few sets get damaged in shipment…within 2 business days I had replacements.

A few of the solder joints had cracked/broken and I just could not fix em… the wires are EXTREMELY fragile and my sh#tty soldering set up was causing more damage than good.

Installation was straight forward. Took a few hours total with the majority of time spent getting the leds into the saucers. One tip I would recommend is a dab of hot glue to hold them in place. Friction does not “quite” keep em mounted…at least on my set.

I did a mix of red and green sets as I have both color domes in the ships. Went with green Hallway lights… think it turned out fantastic.

Again, Bill, a big thumbs up and “Thank You” to you sir. It just blows me away what so many talented folks bring to this hobby.

My first attempt at attaching a video to a post… 50/50 if I can figure it out…ha. I can add a few more later if it works.

You most definitely can upgrade to the XL display as I have done it recently. Good luck finding the display though…sold out everywhere.

I have emailed Chicago Gaming numerous times to get a timeline on if /when they have a schedule on new ones coming in.

ZERO response from them. Pretty disappointed in that.

I put the larger display in my CE last summer… already had the color chip installed. Was super easy.

Unfortunately the larger LCD screens are basically unobtaniam at the moment….

#9805 2 years ago
Quoted from CoasterG:

Out of curiosity, you need the color chip, larger display, the proper mounting for the display - anything else?
Where did you get your larger LCD screen from?

I believe I ordered from Jason at Classicgamerooms.com…but I know he is out.

Yes, color chip and the XL display kit…which includes everything needed to upgrade the display and subwoofer.

I found this YT video pretty informative.

Hello all…. Need to pull my side rails as I am going to send the off for powder coating soon.

Do I need to pull the head for that?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Here is my AFMr that I powdercoated.
[quoted image][quoted image]

cconway84 - thanks for the info and pics! What color is that?…am I seeing a bit of metal flake in there?

…also thinking of doing my MM in a deep royal/cobalt blue. Those each look great!

Quoted from Grindle3:

Anyone have any idea who may have an “Eat at Eddys “ mod for sale? No one seems to have one in stock.

This came in my game from the original owner. I really like it.

Mr. Tantrum sells it right here on Pinside.

Quoted from Riefepeters:

Speaking of toppers, does anyone know what building this is? I’d like to see a topper with this building and some lit up saucers….[quoted image]

Funny you bring this up…. I just finished this on Monday night. It has RGB lights in front that fade thru shades of white, green, red and blue on the capital. The ufos are lit red in the center and the green LEDs around it are tied into the Bill Ung saucer mod.
You could just get 3mm green LED’s and insert them in the saucer holes…but I had a few extras from Bills mod so I used them. (Damaged in shipping but I sloppily repaired…good enough for the topper!)

It turned out pretty nice. I still plan to light the backdrop and may bring it down about an inch or two. Its just a bit too tall overall in my opinion.

Sorry about the poor lighting…was trying to capture the lights onnthe topper.

Quoted from Riefepeters:

Yes, you basically nailed it. I was thinking of doing thr backdrop a bit different, but otherwise, yes. This is what I was thinking.
Did you buy one of the 3d printed capital buildings online of print your own?

The previous owner had made a nice custom topper which included the capital. I just tweaked it slightly.

Ironically, my daughter lives in D.C. and I have seen this model there. There are several on Amazon. Its just a 3D puzzle model or something. Cant seem to link it as im on my ipad and it keeps opening the app rather than Amazon.com.

I was returning to the thread to post the link…and here you already have done it!

Thank you for helping me out with this! Very happy with how it turned out.

Those appear to be rgb led wires… did someone possibly have Pinstadiums on this machine?

Greetings… Is there a way to set the start button flashing to not time out?

I have gone thru all the settings and can not seem to locate it.

Thanks.

#10495 66 days ago
Quoted from Pinball_Eddie:

I think the start button stops flashing due to the setting that allows the lights to dim after a period time in attract mode, but I could be wrong.
Below are some of those Adjustment settings I’m referencing, but I’m sure LTG would know:
A.1 25 Allow Dim Illumination
A.1 29 General Illumination Power Saver
A.1 30 Power Saver Level

Thanks…. Appreciate the reply. Will give it a shot tonight.

Quoted from pinballinreno:

The glue warps the chip as it has water in it.
It MUST be clamped to get e good result since its particle board.

Wonder if a bit of wood hardener prior to glue or contact cement would work?

I wanted to follow up on this…changed settings on A1 29 and that seems to have done the trick. Was thinking these were just playfield settings. Thanks again!

Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:

Also, important note on AFM plastic protectors. The florescent acrylic is 1/8" thick what this means is that the regular nuts will not longer catch the threads of the posts. What everyone will need to do is acquire some low-profile/thin jam nylon insert nuts to replace the originals. I previously had a source for these locally, but my friends sold their fastener business a couple of years ago. I'm sure you can find them online somewhere (maybe even Amazon).

Do you know the size of these by chance?
