Quoted from Miknan:Just curious, when you guys are getting these calls from the shipping companies did your distributor call you first to say it was sent out or were these call out of the blue?
My distributor sent an email the other day saying before Christmas but no definite date, received a call from the shipper this morning saying tomorrow.
Since my AFMr is arriving tomorrow, I need to ask for some help. To get the game down into my basement the back box needs to come off. Is there a post somewhere that details the process or if not, would that be explained in the owner's manual?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Received #711 yesterday in Martian green and yes my game has the shooting lane issue. I have some work to do, but otherwise it looks awesome.
After looking at the pictures, shimming the assembly at the rear is what I was thinking too. Seems like a fairly easy fix, even though it would have been better if it came perfect from the factory.
I lowered the plunger strength one level and it makes the orbit about 85-90 percent of the time. I’ll look at possibly shimming the plunger mech to see if that gets me to 100%. I’ve also reduced the flipper strength to -10, it shoots pretty good but I might reduce it a little more.
Having a blast with this game. Can’t wait to see what CGC #3 is going to be.
Are you guys replacing the rubbers on your machines? If so, with what? I’m not too fond of the black rubbers the game comes with. Thanks.
I'm liking the green super bands but was considering the Titans who's green I don't care for. What to do?
Yeah, the feel is why I'm wanting the Titans. I'll look at their colors again.
By the way, also loving the game. If I have 5 or 10 minutes to kill, like this morning before having to take my son to school, I'll play a game or two, it's that addictive.
Anybody having issues with the diverter? On mine sometimes the ball gets stuck between the diverter and the right side of the lane. It’s as if the diverter isn’t opening up enough. In fact when the diverter is open it doesn’t touch the left side of the lane, should it?
Quoted from hoby1:It just going to be a diverter adjustment. Loosen up and reposition
That sounds simple enough but if I adjust the diverter so it opens fully will that stop it from closing fully?
Quoted from hoby1:Adjust it in rest position so it just closes,
Ok, I’ll give that a try, thanks.
Quoted from abagwell:It seems to be tuned to be way more difficult than it used to be. I've only seen an EB once and I couldn't hit it. I used to just sweep back and forth but it seems something always gets through with that strat, and I've never seen the mothership.
Same here.
Quoted from iceman44:I went with self adhesive felt under saucer. Works like a charm and takes 1 minute to install
Pictures please.
For those that are having problems with the topper, is the problem not being able to connect all the wires? The reason I ask is that on mine, a couple of the connectors had a piece of plastic (like a plastic pin) blocking one of the holes. I have no idea why they came like this. I was hesitant to try and remove the plastic pin but it was obvious that the only way to connect the wires was to remove those pins. I used needle nose pliers and they didn't exactly come out easily but once out I connected everything and the topper works fine. Anybody else have these plastic pins blocking holes on their connectors?
Quoted from snaroff:Nice to hear your machine is working properly. My build date was 12/6. Have no idea what electronics could have changed in 4 months. Whatever it is, I'm hopeful CGC will eventually get to the bottom of it. Here is a 14 second slo-motion video of the crazy lock shot behavior I was experiencing:

That happens on mine too but only occasionally.
I bought my LE because I liked what was included in the package not because I thought I'd have something exclusive. If they sold the bits that are included in an LE separately it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I have what I want on my machine why shouldn't others be able to do the same. Has no effect on me.
Quoted from Who-Dey:The thing I always wondered about though is like the playfield. Wood expands and contracts a lot right? Seems like that wood would have to expand and contract enough to possibly cause damage, wouldn’t you think?
Yes, SOLID wood can expand and contract significantly but that has far more to do with humidity than temperature. Solid wood can and does absorb and loose moisture with changes in humidity which causes the wood the expand or shrink accordingly. But plywood is dimensionally stable, relatively speaking, due to the way it’s manufactured. The “plys” are stacked with the grain at right angles to one another and are held together by a significant amount of glue which keeps the expansion and contraction to a minimum.
I was getting frustrated with this machine a lot lately because it felt like I couldn’t control the ball very well which led to some really disappointing games. I was really not liking the flipper rubber, it was extremely hard to control the ball because it bounced way too much and it created a bunch of unpredictable spin. I ordered the complete set of Titan rubbers more or less because I liked the looks but hadn’t got around to swapping them out. But tonight out of desperation I decided to do a quick change of the flipper rubbers. What a night and day difference. I can actually control the ball now, what a novel concept. I played a couple of games and I felt so much more in control, the second game I was back on the leaderboard for the first time in a while. I love the Titans, I’m glad I gave them a try.
Quoted from abagwell:I might give this a shot then, I too am kind of annoyed at how impossible it is to trap/catch the ball...I'll trap it and then watch it suddenly fly off in a random direction from a crazy amount of spin that it got from it touching the flipper.
I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s a night and day difference. I have so much more control over the ball. And what’s the worst that can happen, if you don’t like them you’re out only a few bucks.
Quoted from bitpatrol:Which flipper rubbers are the best ones for me to get, and also, should I get better balls than the ones that came with it?
Thanks
Not having tried them all I can’t give an answer and even if I did you might not like what I like. Having said that, for me the Titans are a vast improvement over the stock flipper rubbers. As for balls, mine have held up well so far but I bought the Ninja balls from Ball Baron for when they need replacing, balls after all need periodic replacement.
Quoted from Onwallst:I have a friend who restores and manufactures arcade video games and he says the new materials will not last compared to the 80’s and 90’s materials as the glue products they used were better then and banned now by California.
I dispute that claim. PVA glue, also know as yellow glue such as Titebond is incredibly strong, so much so that the glue is stronger than the wood itself. By that I mean, if the joint is subjected to stress the wood around the joint will break before the joint at the glue line. PVA glue has been around for quite some time and has a proven track record. Even if the glue used in the 80’s and 90’s was stronger it wouldn’t matter since PVA is already stronger than the wood so you don’t benefit from a stronger glue. Failures in cabinet joints comes from poor construction at the outset not poor glue. For example, if the joint didn’t get enough glue or there was insufficient clamping pressure or it is an ill-fitting joint to begin with.
Quoted from Newbie979:Ok so should I do the, like yours in your life with the left one lol the way up? Tight fit to get a screw driver done there at the angle where the play field sits on stand
What?
Quoted from abagwell:Was able to find them by googling "green translucent superbands", they are on Pinball Life like DngrWillRobinson said...thanks for the input guys:

Last question then is are these a different feel from using Titan rubbers or are they identical? Dngr I know you said that the Titans made a world of difference in how the machine played and that you(like me)weren't very happy with the feel/trapping of the standard flipper rubbers. I was going to get Titan due to your opinion but they don't have this green translucent color that I like. If Superbands is an entirely other style of rubber then I'll just get a different color in the Titan.
I prefer the Titans, the superbands feel too firm and sort of dead to me if that makes sense. You might want to try both out, they’re not that expensive and super easy to change, then you can make up your mind.
I was playing AFMr tonight and scored 10 billion and change on my first ball. Completed almost everything needed to get to rule the universe. Yep, I thought I was well on my way to a new grand champion score. Two balls later and I didn’t even make it to 11 billion, son of a b****. I love this game but man that’s just not cool.
I half expected the coin door to open up and a boxing glove to pop out and punch me in the stones, that would have completed the feeling. Ah well, maybe tomorrow.
You’re getting the super sized multiball, just go with it.
Ok, just kidding. No, I haven’t experienced that but it sure would help my scores to have an extra ball on the multiball.
Now that I think of it. Are you sure it’s happening during multiball and not total annihilation?
You may be able to bend the ramp in place, I did. You can use the handle of a screwdriver and push down on the bend until it shoots better. It’s a trial and error type process.
If ordering cliffys for a game you will be buying, order well in advance. I ordered cliffys for my AFMr two months ago and am still waiting. Come to think of it, I’m still waiting for the PIC2 as well.
Quoted from bitpatrol:I got $6,800,000,000 or something... what do all you nancies have to say about trying to top THAT score!
Well, on my better games I’ll about double that on the first ball but then there are plenty of other games that I don’t come anywhere close to that score. That’s pinball.
Just played first game in about two weeks. First ball, conquer Mars no problem, score 16+ billion. I’m cruising to a new high score and hopefully Rule the Universe. After next two balls, final score 16.9 billion, WTF. Still loving this game.
Quoted from Damien:With the outlane posts at default?
Man, that is one insane ball!
I can report that they usually aren’t that good so I enjoy them when they are.
