Just wanted to say great thread... hoping to get my LE soon... impatiently waiting of course

#1161 6 years ago
Quoted from zoda:

Received my LE #910 today (Europe 230v Version). Great game but got a litet shaded by the following findings:
No topper (!) Do not understand why this was not shipped, no information about this in advance...
Some cracks in some plastics (as seen in other posts)
Bracket for interlock in the coin door was reversed (ball eject, plunger, bumpers and more did not work). Game obviously did not work due to this. Easily fixed once we found the problem. Makes one wonder about the test process in the line though...
At least I can play now... thanks CGC/PPS for much faster than expected time from order to delivery. Looking forward to the next game. Issues in this thread has been reported to the distributor (Bertjan...)

Wow that's a stark contrast from other people receiving. Must have taken a beating in transit to you over there.

#1171 6 years ago

Got my call this morning for final payment, looks like my game is shipping monday and should have it tuesday. I will NOT be at work next week

#1185 6 years ago
Quoted from Ozzy:

To all you afmr classic owners. How do you like your pin? I have an opportunity to purchase a pro well below new cost. Less than 150 games upgraded color dmd. Would love to hear your thoughts and throw in feelings on a huo tspp. Looking for a game with alot of meat on its bones for my collection

There is no pro. Special edition had the upgraded screen size. LE’s are sold out so you won’t be able to find one of those.

Details are all on the CGC site on the differences.

Mine will be here tomorrow, freight company called me this morning

LOL @ removing the ceiling tiles

#1236 6 years ago
Quoted from Vyzer2:

Having the same issue, so thanks for your write up. Will try that.

Same issue on my game that got delivered yesterday. So you shimmed the wire form up, and you also did something to the auto plunger? (I already cranked mine up to max)

#1238 6 years ago

Figured I'd post here as well, but my test menu is showing an error on F8, which says upper left flip opto... i didn't see where that was located in the manual, so i'm not 100% sure what sensor it's referring to.

#1247 6 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Each flipper button opto board has two optos. One for flippers. One for lane changes, initials type stuff. If you go into Tests - Switch Edge, and slowly push the flipper button in, first one, then the other should report on the screen.
I'd reseat the connector to the flipper button opto board a couple times. Then go into Tests - Switch Edge, and pass something between the F8 optos and see if it works. If not swap left and right flipper button opto boards and see if problem moves. If it isn't working then, go to chicago-gaming.com and open a ticket to get a new one.
LTG : )

Ok thanks i'll check the flipper button opto's out. I've been having a bit of an issue with the right button registering when i try to move it for the skill shot, so that's why i was surprised it said left. But never had any issues with the flipper not working.

F8 refers to the flipper though? not something else somewhere?

#1249 6 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Check the Dedicated switch column in your switch matrix chart in the manual.
LTG : )

Yeah I didn't see it listed in there, but i'll look again.

#1256 6 years ago
Quoted from Arcade:

Got the email from Game Exchange that our LE has shipped.
Oddly enough, unlike everyone else that is getting them by FedEx, ours is shipped SAIA.
Probably because it is business to business I would guess.
We get all our games shippped to our business and just load the box in our truck.
Can't get here fast enough.

Mine came via freight.

#1281 6 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

So nobody has purchased these?

Well LE already has mirrored sides.

I THINK I’m going to order the pinbladez, the mirrored ones that are cut out. I don’t like the lighted ones. Not sure though as I have an LE with mirror already.

#1299 6 years ago

That is pretty well integrated.

#1356 6 years ago
Quoted from Damien:

I'm currently at -8. Had better scores at -4, but also had more airballs. Even at -8 the ball still jumps sometimes when I hit the green targets in front of the ship.

wow, i've been running the default, but obviously air balls and ricochet of death from shooting the saucer

#1364 6 years ago
Quoted from chrisnack:

wow, i've been running the default, but obviously air balls and ricochet of death from shooting the saucer

So i dropped to -4 last night and played a couple games. It does seem smoother. Very interesting, will have to keep playing and trying different settings.

#1373 6 years ago
Quoted from nipper2u:

Still waiting on my (very recently placed) pre-order on an LE but can't help getting anxious. Anyone have an idea how quickly these are being put out by CGC? I figure I am probably not getting mine till Jan but have hopes it will be sooner.

It's gonna be awhile for you Most of us that just are getting them were from April/May non-matched LE's. All matched LE's should be out.

I believe they hope to have all of them built before end of year though I think Doug had stated. If you just ordered now and get it within a couple months, that's alot shorter than most of us waited!!!

#1429 6 years ago

I am not a fan of hte mirror blades, they will be coming out as soon as my new bladeskinz from pingraffix show up. .

#1445 6 years ago
Quoted from FlipMyBalls:

I feel that they are similar but I haven't done a side by side comparison like you have. However I really did notice the first time I played MMR that the flippers felt quite different from the original MM. like they are pulled higher or something

I own both remakes. AFMr is definitely stronger, i have my down to -6 now and it's much better and smoother playing. Never adjusted off of default on MMr.

#1453 6 years ago
Quoted from rockrand:

I just ordered an afmle after playing gotg and I just could not pull the trigger at this time,I wanted to but it is to disjointed
Can I get a quick overview of what to expect I may have to tweek to get my game up to snuff
O and I think Di should clearly be game of the year
Thanks

#1470 6 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

What's an average score on this game? Really good? Great?

Probably depends on the settings right? How many extra balls and saucer set to easy/medium etc..

i haven't gotten over 6b yet, but i suck.. i just finance the hobby for my friends... my buddy is pretty good and put up 18b i think the other day, he's only played it a few times. I would guess 20-30b is doable. 60b whatever!

The first day i got MM, he put up 451m on the stock settings (other than changed to extra ball mode). We've never seen anywhere near that in a year i've had it. It was fun to watch. I'd say a great game on there is in the 200s, good in the mid-upper 100s.

#1518 6 years ago

Installed the bladeskinz the other day. Save the original mirrors but they were a bit much for me, so wanted to try something different. Feel like these are a good middle ground between full mirrored sides and standard pinblades.

Quoted from BentleyBear:

Can you adjust the green guy ?
Mine is a bit turned to the right. Not in center.

Let me know how it goes, mine is a bit off as well, curious how much a pain it is, so i haven't bothered to even mess with it yet

#1602 6 years ago
Quoted from Arcade:

Agree with snaroff. This game has enough bling already.
Only thing we added was a piece of invisiglass.
I guess I might consider the 3D translite someday.

I move a sheet of PDI over and then ditched the mirrored blades for bladeskinz.

Debated about 3D as well, have it on my MMr, most days love it and some days wish I just had the original since it’s blurry from some angles.

#1688 6 years ago

Anyone know of anyone other than Pinball Decals that does martian LED eyes? (I don't want to pay $150 PER martian) most of the threads i can find are from a long time (years and years) ago. I have LED eyes in the trolls on MMR and find it tasteful. Albeit with some large resistors so they are just glowing instead of eye searing

Edit: apparently my searching just sucked, because i found this thread which has some good info, although some mods don't work on AFMr i guess... booo

#1721 6 years ago
Quoted from Requis:

So my AFMR is suppose to show up tomorrow and interested in having all the optimum settings setup as we put it together during unboxing.
Can anyone take a moment to put in a post for all of the best settings, angle, elevation, flipper etc..that we should utilize for a new family just getting in the hobby... I recognize this is subjective but really just looking for a starting point. We ordered Cliffy’s for all our pins coming tomorrow but never thought to ask what would be the best way to configure these on initial setup.
Thank you for posting really appreciate your help!

That's going to be entirely personal preference.

I run my flippers at -6 and the game is level based on the manual, which is just touching the 2nd line. No other changes other than free ball adds.

Don't have any cliffy's etc, don't run them on my MMr either, again personal preference.

#1729 6 years ago

Seems odd as the game should have built in voltage regulators... shouldn't vary day to day. Would be curious to see what you see with that device and if it does truly fluctuate.

#1761 6 years ago
Quoted from masterchen:

Having an issue with a Test Error
Switch F6- U.R. Flipper But.

I've been having the same issue off/on, everything plays fine, so not sure what is up. I've seen it show up for both flippers, then the next power up nothing, then back to F6.

Quoted from john17a:

Can anyone advise
Set up afm found topper motor won't work lights etc all ok but no martian action
Bigger issue
Played about 6 games of doubles and was just swapping over after a very average ball and NOTHING almost if someone pulled the power checked fuses also the 2 at the switch inside the door swapped power cable checked headbox fuses checked power supply at wall all ok but there are 3 leds in headbox on already opened ticket but has this happened to anyone
Thanks

You don’t have your topper fully hooked up based on that picture as I see a connector not connected.

For anyone else interested, I started a new thread for technical discussion ONLY, i'm tired of reading 200 posts on the topper. This thread is for all things related to AFMr, and that's great, i just want to see a smaller thread on just technical issues and solutions. So i created one specific for that to help narrow things down for people looking for that type of information.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/attack-from-mars-remake-afmr-technical-thread#post-4156557

#2378 6 years ago
Quoted from abagwell:

So now this thread is only for non technical discussions and the other thread is technical? I feel like this just splinters the group and makes it more difficult to get technical questions answered unless they are posted in both threads depending on who is reading which.

Didn’t say that at all, but I don’t feel people need to dig through 200 in a couple days posts to find technical info.

I’m happy to link back to relevant technical stuff.

Just trying to help nothing more.

FWIW - Game Room Guys contacted me about the fix and have even called me a few times and sent me a thank you card in the mail. I recommend them based on my experience.

Same for me, they are great to deal with.

#2696 6 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I'm speaking from firsthand experience. For example, according to them, can't get the updated pic chip that fixes a pretty serious potential electrical problem with the flippers under warranty unless I'm the first owner. Extremely lame of CGC.

That does suck, but they do have to draw the line somewhere. A lot of warranties don't transfer.

I've decided to part with my AFMr LE. It's listed in the marketplace. Price at $7400 for a quick sale hopefully. So if anyone knows someone looking for one. Mine has just over 500 plays, perfect shape.

Great game, but i have limited space and MMr isn't going anywhere!

Market looks to be around $7600 for one of these, sucks when it was $8000 new + shipping, but there are a number of people selling at/around $7600.

I do have some PinGraffix Bladeskinz available for sale as well (just haven't posted them yet), those looked SO MUCH better than the stock mirrored ones.
