Question for operators...I'm going to be buying an AFM-R to route. I currently have a Hobbit Smaug, SS, and GOT Pro and all doing very well (actually SS just been there a couple of days so wishful thinking.). Owner of the place is very excited to get AFM in there. Should I go SE or LE? In some ways leaning LE in green as maybe thinking the color and topper might draw more people not to mention the fact that mirrors and shaker are standard and I heard 2 year warranty (does that still apply to routed games?).

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks. I have a couple of feelers out to distributors. Probably will go green LE if possible.

#2005 6 years ago

That diverter should open all the way for sure as I recall from my previous AFM original ownership. After that I'm not much help on how to fix or what to look for.

Can you manually open it up all the way? If not, maybe see if something is binding the movement? I'm sure someone smarter will chime in.

737 delivered today and place on route. I now have 4 of the 6 pins at Token Game Tavern in Knoxville. This is now by far the best place in town for Pinball.

Topper not working fully. Only the eyes light up but nothing else. Documentation sucks. Everything is labellled but only sort of and not obvious.

Super skill shot only going around about 50% of the time.
I think this pin is gonna kill it on route.

Can someone please post a photo of what all the wires look like on a topper that is fully working? Much appreciated.

Here is a photo of my topper wiring. It is still not working. I did have to pull off one plastic plug on a connector as discussed above.

My main Martian light works and when the pin First turns on the saucers light for a moment but then That’s it. Martian doesn’t move and led strips not lit.

Any thoughts?

Me too. I have the fix incoming but would have had no idea without Pinside.

Quoted from Miknan:

Not trying to complain when asking about lock bar, just not sure how to fix it and looking for advice. I've had a few pins and never had this problem. Honestly, still not sure how to fix it as those brass screws loose and the silver latch part too low. I found if I reach inside and push it up it will catch. Also needed a new chip to make the topper even work. Hardly whining. People bash on Stern but my NIB MET had zero problem out of the box and I guess I expected the same. This has been more like the JD I bought.

Is the pin perfectly level? I had a hard time getting my bar to latch but simply making sure pin was perfectly level solved the problem. I think the pin must have been torqued slightly and leveling it up solved it.

Update on topper and flipper power: I installed the 2.0 chip and topper works 100%. Flipper strength was still a little too much so dialed it back to -4 which is a perfect blend of ball control, speed, lack of airballs, lack of rail jumping, and lack of SOL hit kickouts. Trough kickout increased to +1.

Super skill shot works 100% and is pretty strong (might need to dial back the plunger strength a little.

Overall, I'm very impressed with the customer service I have received and now that the topper is working...WOW! That alone makes the LE worth the money in my opinion.

Quoted from neverahighscore:

Did you request the new chip or was it sent to you for the topper issue. Sounds like this is what everyone with issues needs.

I put in a ticket and was expecting maybe an email back in a day or two at best. Literally like 30 minutes later I got a call and they shipped the chip the same day. Needless to say, I was stunned at the amazing customer support. I will never hesitate to buy another CGC pin with that kind of follow up!

It literally only took maybe 3 minutes all told to fix this. In my opinion the board does not need to come out. Simply overkill. At least it was for mine.

#2661 6 years ago
Quoted from Miknan:

Noticed decal starting to peel. Should I put some sort of glue or something over it so it doesn't get worse?

I had this exact issue as well. As mine is on Route, I simply cut a small square of Mylar and put it over the corner. No issues since so far.
