Does anyone know where the cliffys go? I found a place for most of them, but where does the 'WMS-EJRT-Williams Bally right side under rail shooter eject' go? I see it goes on the shooter lane somehow...

I've never seen these but it looks like they go directly in the shooter lane and there is a slot for the switch to go through. You could email Cliff and ask him. He's usually busy but good about getting back to people.

Just put my AFMr standard right next to my MMR standard

Installed some colored LEDs, full white super bands , colored flipper rubber , mirror glazed balls , cliff posts and protectors , shakers , colored pin cabs , flipper button protectors, and just waiting for pinball decals to reopen for target decals on both

Love the all original look as that’s what I grew up with.

Anybody having issues with the diverter? On mine sometimes the ball gets stuck between the diverter and the right side of the lane. It’s as if the diverter isn’t opening up enough. In fact when the diverter is open it doesn’t touch the left side of the lane, should it?

#2005 6 years ago

That diverter should open all the way for sure as I recall from my previous AFM original ownership. After that I'm not much help on how to fix or what to look for.

Can you manually open it up all the way? If not, maybe see if something is binding the movement? I'm sure someone smarter will chime in.

#2006 6 years ago

Yes and mine does open all the way. Go to solenoids/ diverter and watch it open close. Then tilt the PF and see if anything is binding or broken when it works.

#2007 6 years ago

It just going to be a diverter adjustment. Loosen up and reposition

Anybody know sling rubber size on AFMR? 2-1/2?

Yes

#2011 6 years ago

btw...someone did all the rubber in Titan Gray early on....loved it and did it to my game.....an amazing match!!!!!

That sounds simple enough but if I adjust the diverter so it opens fully will that stop it from closing fully?

Adjust it in rest position so it just closes,

#2014 6 years ago

What balls should I get?

Quoted from hoby1:

Ok, I’ll give that a try, thanks.

#2016 6 years ago

Anybody try UV for backboard light (either flash or GI)? I've got a strip left, and debating it.....this game is so gorgeous out of the box, hard to mod it beyond interactive cabinet lights, and flipper buttons.....

#2017 6 years ago
Quoted from DngrWillRobinson:

Ok, I’ll give that a try, thanks.

You will get it . Should be no problem .

Hi forum. I have an error message from the test report. Could someone please tell me how to troubleshoot this. The message is check left gate stuck closed. What is the left gate, where is it on the machine? Thanks you.

I had this error, left gate stuck closed, right away when I got the game. It was present until I had some really good games. Then, it went away. Hasn’t come back. Not sure if that’s helpful or not, but I was confident nothing was wrong with the game, and believed it would go away with more games played, which it did.
Hope that helps

Yeah, it has not been effecting game play that i can notice. Seems to work OK, but error message pops up 50% of the time i turn on the machine and i want to fix it. I am currently in 2nd place on the preset factory scores... hopefully that will be changing soon.

OK Guys How many saucers have guys shot down in the video mode? How many do you have to hit to get extra ball?

It seems to be tuned to be way more difficult than it used to be. I've only seen an EB once and I couldn't hit it. I used to just sweep back and forth but it seems something always gets through with that strat, and I've never seen the mothership.

Also noticed my diverter dosent fully open. It’s opens sufficiently to not trap the ball but rattles each time a ball passes

#286 just arrived, went with green translucent rubbers. Love the glow effect.

Id bet you guys are all having some issues with the ball launch.

If your holding the left flipper during launch and the ball does not make the loop or is tooooo slow and just goes into the pops , after a few times it will come on and stay on.

I got 28 last night with no extra ball. Ill look later should come down at 30 and mother ship at 40/50. You get 1 smart bomb.

#2027 6 years ago

for those having the ball hang at launch - CGC are aware and are looking at a fix.

Yeah it must be 30 for the extra ball. I have not, at this point, used a smart bomb so the 30 kills is straight up. I usually do not do that well but I am thinking that once I start using the smart bomb, I will do better consistently.

I like those! I am getting a Titan Competition Silicone ring kit for Christmas (green). I have these on my MM and love them.

Thanks for this! I agree. There seems to be a sweep pattern that really works well but I am sure there is some luck involved with getting the timing down.

The old B/W errors would pop up if the machine didn't see certain components used in a certain amount of time. Gates, switches, ect... Switch errors were most common. I would make sure your game launches correctly (use the super skill shot) I would agree with hoby1 that your game is probably :thinking:not launching properly.

#2032 6 years ago

That makes total sense of the gate closed error.
I was holding the left flipper for super skill shot, but I’m also having the same plunger issues that everyone else is having. I must have gotten it to plunge correctly a few times to get the error to go away.

Ahhh I had no idea it gave you a smart bomb to start with, I thought you could only use one if you had earned it before the video mode. Thanks!

#2034 6 years ago

Yep and we expect your numbers to go up!

Had three originals so a have an idea of the rules.

None were as perfect as my remake and don’t let anyone tell ya different

Had to work out shooter lane issues on two of the three but none were as hard as this to tweek in

#2036 6 years ago

Has anyone installed a playfield protector AND a cliffy at the target hole below the spaceship? The pp overlaps the cliffy a bit, and it was recommended I put the sheet over the cliffy, but that would cause air balls due to the pp making a bit of a 'ramp'

Thanks

#2037 6 years ago

Only cliffs needed is the SOL hole and 3 bank target imo

#2038 6 years ago
Quoted from hoby1:

My pp covers the whole playfield so I would need to remove it, or cut the pp back a bit so it does not overlap.

#2039 6 years ago

A pp will not stop edge chipping. That’s were the main problem stems from. I can live with dimples

Oh that stuff doesn't bother me too much, it's been made pretty clear that this is the sort of thing that can happen. I'm more wondering if AFMR is going to stay in my collection long term to be honest. It's great fun and my nostalgia shades from being a kid heavily drove my interest in owning it but it just seems a bit lacking for a machine I paid 8k for. That's in no way a dig on CGC or anything obviously, as it's a perfect remake. I'm just comparing it to my restored WC94 that was only $2600 next to it and it seems kind of lacking in longevity. My brain keeps wandering off to more involved/longer ball time games I could have in its place (really interested in owning a Hobbit at some point).

Quoted from hoby1:

If i cut back the pp a bit, I could have the best of both worlds though... just wanting to ensure that is the right way to install a pp together with a cliffy.

Eazy fix , new launch ramp with rivet more on the left side .

I took the 2 screws out and pushed the ramp to the right and taped it : now it works 100%

Doesn’t it though. Took me about 6 hours to figure out back and forth with the shooter hardware and ramp. I bet it flys now

If you are one of those guys that wants longer ball times then TH is your Game. I had one for awhile it was great but I just decided that I was done with JJP games period.

How do I lower the target gate under the spaceshipt to adjust it? Do I need to manually trigger the targets or is there a menu?
