Anybody know if the 3D translights work on the remake?

Yes. Same size. ( I just measured both )

How are people liking the classics and SEs? Obviously LE owners love theirs, please provide some more owner feedback too -thx!

Loving my SE. They really did such a great job producing these games. I originally had a deposit on the Classic but could not resist upgrading when I found out my distributor had SE's in stock, and three days later it was delivered. Beautiful game and it is just a lot of fun to play. Game play on the Classic is awesome, too, but the extra bells and whistles on the SE are sweet.

New owners: feel free to post vids of your new machine in action (there are too few so far). Those of us not lucky enough to have the game need them to keep us from going crazy.

#1204 6 years ago

In the club! Jumped the line and picked up a used one with only 19 plays on it.

Excited to see people getting theirs! I’m #17 on my distributor list so I probably still have to wait awhile.

Playing that was probably more fun than the Packer game Sunday.

Watching paint dry is more exciting than watching the Packers play right now.

Unbelievable... the topper form #AFMRLE was never sent(!), and seller did not inform me about this advance. Made me harass shipping firms in Sweden and the Netherlands, crying wolf.... Took him 3 days to respond on this matter. Now looking forward to add the topper once it arrives. For those still waiting for LE shipments, make sure you get two packages on the pallet as shown in provided (reused) image.
Questions to fellow AFMR Pinsiders with the various plastics with cracks in paintings, did you report this directly to CGI/PPS? What was the response about that (this thread has far to many posts to find previous answers in...) ?

Got my plastic replacements from CGC, and they were amazingly fast to reply and resolve. I have nothing but praise to give to CGC and of course LTG

I should probably just set up automatic withdrawals with CGC!

My SE showed today! Bah! I'm like a fat kid at Halloween! Hoping everything goes smoothly. Waiting on a buddy to show to help me wrangle it to the "man-child" cave. (Wife coined it)

No need to wait for that guy!... I can go with my Brother and help you first taking out Dracula and then we install your new Attack From mars

Btw, congratulations SDTM!

#1216 6 years ago

You guys are lucky, the Aussie machines are still on the water, it’s about to stop in Columbia on the way, anything to speed things up is ok by me.

#1217 6 years ago

I'm blown away by the new SE. It is in a different class of anything I have owned. The display, the sound and the customization is mind blowing.

However, there are two issues I wanted to ask some of you about.

1.) There is a ball launch issue. About half the time, or slightly less, the ball, when launched, bounces around at the end of the drop before making the turn into the jet bumpers. This is pretty annoying, as the ball just simply drains down the right orbit and never gives an opportunity for the jet bumper bonus much less the super skill shot when it happens. Anyone have any ideas?

2.) I am getting a LOT of airballs. Like, a LOT. I have the flippers running at -3 and my rake is set to 6.7.

Other than these two knocks, the game is a wonder to behold. Even my wife was impressed, and that is a minor miracle. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

#1218 6 years ago

What’s the name of the boat heading to Australia? I’m keen to also track it.

Hopefully don’t get held up in customs when they arrive due to “special” Columbia’s freight....

I had both of those issues. Try turning down the launch coil to Min. Turn down the flipper strength to Min also. I corrected these two by those adjustments. Make sure your game is dead nuts side to side level. My angle is 6.5 degrees. There are still air balls but they are more normalized.

What shots are causing airballs? Random? Do the airballs usually lead to drains? Like hopping over an inlane/outlane divider?

I have one on order and hope this is possible to minimize with some adjustments. Maybe the flippers or flipper rubber need adjusting?

Curious,

Question... my audio is very VERY loud. The volume won’t go any lower than 8 via the service buttons. Is there an AMP adjustment somewhere? (And no “if it’s too loud you’re too old” jokes either!! Lol)

Edit : found it. Min volume override. Set it and now have volume at 4... duh!!

I looked through the manual and inside the cabinet.

This is an LE!

Loving this thing so far!!

The most common is the Lightning lock shot! This is the absolute perfect shot to enable the lock. That ball goes so fast up the right return ramp that it just flies to the drain! I have had an occasional side air ball that lands the ball in the shooter lane. I found that turning my flipper power to Min stopped most of it but not all!

Anybody using/liking the Pingraffix blade skinz?

#1232 6 years ago

So I found the solution for my problem about failed launches. I hope this isn't prior knowledge that I am repeating but after getting my game that was plagued with the problem almost half the time I started a ball, my searches were pretty skimpy. I hope this may help someone in here who receives their game and runs into the same problem. This is a video link that shows my original issue. Keep in mind I ramble on throwing out ideas and thoughts on why its doing it. However, if you watch the first minute, you will see my first two launches fail and get the gist of what is going on.

I created a support ticket through the CGC website and was quickly contacted. After watching the video the tech insisted that the ball was hitting the wireform and thought it was a combination of a misaligned auto launch kicker and a wireform/habitrail that sat too low. I skeptically adjusted the kicker, which helped some and then shimmed the connector for the habitrail ever so slightly higher. I have since played 25 games without one failed launch.

Below shows a photo of the screw that can be shimmed. I used a couple of #8 washers but a nylon spacer in black or white would probably look the best. I am so thankful it was such a simple fix. I'm loving the game and am very thankful for the help offered.

#1233 6 years ago

Thanks for posting that. I will make that adjustment and turn up that coil.

#1234 6 years ago

Hopefully CGC will take notice of this issue and make an adjustment at the factory!

#1235 6 years ago

Having the same issue, so thanks for your write up. Will try that.

Same issue on my game that got delivered yesterday. So you shimmed the wire form up, and you also did something to the auto plunger? (I already cranked mine up to max)

#1237 6 years ago

Diverter Gate Stuck Closed - occasionally. (diagnostics menu did report the issue one time)

I looked at the wiring and solenoid action. No issues or binding.

Any suggestions to diagnose or correct this intermittent issue?

#1238 6 years ago

Figured I'd post here as well, but my test menu is showing an error on F8, which says upper left flip opto... i didn't see where that was located in the manual, so i'm not 100% sure what sensor it's referring to.

Quoted from chrisnack:

Yes. The tech recommended shimming the kicker, but instead, I just gently adjusted the frame that it sits in. If you pull the playfield up and prop the rails in the locked position on the front of the cabinet, you can do either. He advised that the kicker will look like it is aligned properly, but when the solenoid fires, the armature/kick arm has a tendency to fire lower on the ball, so I ever so slightly just nudged the metal mount that it sits on up. I can't stress enough how minor it is. You are talking millimeters. Then, yes, just take the screw off the wire form that is mounted next to the saucer and just add a shim. A nut and a washer. Three washers, a nylon spacer, whatever you have and suits you. Then, put the playfield down and get on your knees and watch the ball fire. If it looks like it is staying low, you will have gotten the same result I did. You can actually just take the screw out and fire a dozen or so balls before shimming. This will let you know if it is the problem without actually adding the shim if it is hitting elsewhere.

I wouldn't recommend doing this unless your machine is actually having issues. Maybe the wireforms were bent ever so slightly on a few of these machines, or maybe the kicker frames were slightly low or out of spec. The "Auto Plunge" kicker setting should be good on default after doing this. Mine is.

Just got mine this morning. Are they suppose to come with manuals?

Yes. Should be in a plastic bag taped to the top of the machine inside the box along with the warranty registration.

Let us know the results. Curious if it is the same issue fix.

Your game hasn't the slightest idea what a diverter is. Is does know switches. Look at the diverter, open it, roll a ball through with it open. First switch it hits - that's the issue. Isn't registering right so game thinks the diverter is stuck closed.

Might need adjusting so the ball hits it better. Check that the arm of the switch is centered in the slot in the playfield it goes up and down in. Make sure it isn't rubbing the wood, which would slow it down and the game misses it closing.

Each flipper button opto board has two optos. One for flippers. One for lane changes, initials type stuff. If you go into Tests - Switch Edge, and slowly push the flipper button in, first one, then the other should report on the screen.

I'd reseat the connector to the flipper button opto board a couple times. Then go into Tests - Switch Edge, and pass something between the F8 optos and see if it works. If not swap left and right flipper button opto boards and see if problem moves. If it isn't working then, go to chicago-gaming.com and open a ticket to get a new one.

#1245 6 years ago

I was having the issue when you destroy a ship the ball wouldnt register or give you lock instead.
The switch needed to be adjusted so that it would be more sensitive, as other have said.

I simply rotated the switch counter clockwise while listening to the click and actuating the switch arm from under the playfield.

Its rock solid now.

I LOVE THIS GAME ! ! ! !

Can someone who has installed the powerblades tell me where they connected the two black horseshoe wires for power? Thanks

Ok thanks i'll check the flipper button opto's out. I've been having a bit of an issue with the right button registering when i try to move it for the skill shot, so that's why i was surprised it said left. But never had any issues with the flipper not working.

F8 refers to the flipper though? not something else somewhere?
