I recently got an AFMrLE and my only issue with it is NOW I feel I really need to buy a MMr.

#6702 11 months ago
Quoted from pinballinreno:

The scoop should feed the left flipper.
Wall power variations can affect it.
Loosen the scoop mounting screws and physically twist it more to the left, to tighten the screws.
If you need more rotation, elongate the mounting screw holes in the metal scoop to get more rotation.
I rotated my scoop until its firmly jammed up against the playfield wood as far as it can go.
Then adjusted power.
The ball should end up high on the left flipper.
This gives you plenty of room for variation.

Is there a scoop power setting? I was trying to find it in the original settings and the "extended" settings from CGC and couldn't find one...

I have finally joined the AFMr owners club, and am very excited.

This has led to all of the following problems:

-Greatly increased level of shouting swear words.

-Fairly certain the game will give me a heart attack.

-Nonstop urge to press the start button.

Love it!

I get mine tomorrow!

I'm hoping for good things!!!

Just wanna make sure my flippers are tight and then hit the start button! Anything outside of the obvious that I should "absolutely" take a look at before hitting that start button?

Anyone!?

CGC menu. Page 1-15 in the manual. Game Features Menu R Popper Strength.

Thanks Lloyd !

Yes the scoop is attached to the Right Popper circuit. So adjust that one.

Is it shaped like an "R"?

I feel that a supply of black post sleeves should come with the game.

Evidently its my favorite shot, I can believe they haven't split off each post yet !

"R" meaning "Right" for the right pop-bumper. Its labelled that way in the CGC menu.

Read thru this thread.
Make sure Sol Pic 2.0 is on the driver board in the backbox.

Adjust flippers to -2, set pitch to 6.3 to 6.5 degrees. I have mine at 6.3.
Adjust LED emulation to have the lights flash the way you want them to.

Dial in the game from there.

Wow! Purposely lower flipper power. Is that a first? I assume not.
Why 6.3 and not 6.5? I know you have a reason.

Oh yea...the SOL 2.0 thing. I really hope it is. Is the game unplayable if it's not?

Thanks pinballinreno!

Definitely do all the things pinballinreno mentioned, and look at the posts he linked to.

Having just set mine up, I can say that physically, everything was pretty good right out of the box. I have changed a lot of settings, as was mentioned. Mostly making everything weaker.

Mine came with the SOL 2.0, so hopefully yours will as well.

Don't lower the flipper power if your game doesn't have it.

#6716 11 months ago

What is everyone using for the Martian strength setting?

It seems ok on medium, but really gets your attention when set to "strong".

I'm debating which way I prefer it.

Interesting ... Okay

I'm guessing that the game doesn't play "weak" just by lowering the power/settings, etc..

#6718 11 months ago
Quoted from Fizz:

Definitely medium. Strong is just too damn loud for my taste.

#6719 11 months ago

On mine at stock power the ball goes flying off the wireform about half the time when making a clean inner loop shot. I set flipper power anywhere from -2 to -6 and it stays on the rails, also fewer air balls in general.

#6720 11 months ago
Quoted from moonduckie78:

Personally I really like the strong setting but I'm too worried about everything shaking itself loose. I leave it on medium 90% of the time... usually once I've had a few adult beverages I turn it up to strong.

#6721 11 months ago

I'll definitely start out with standard flipper power, but I'll quickly adjust it if I notice the air balls.

Also, not even going to try the stock balls. =) .. Not this time. I didn't have issues with the others, but i have better ones lying around.

#6722 11 months ago

Hello all, I have an issue with my right flipper I'm trying to figure out. The left flipper is snappy, like you would expect. The right one seems to flip ok but goes down slower if that makes sense. Like it takes an extra second to get back to the original position after it flips. Also, when I dead bounce on the right flipper, it bounces up a bit instead of staying in place. Figure I'd ask here to see if you all had any ideas before diving in. Thanks! - Jeff

First thing to check is if the return spring has busted.

Second if coil stop is loose.

That is exactly what it was! And I seem to remember seeing a post from LTG from time to time that shows you can clip them and re-use them, so that is what I did. If it doesn't hold I'll get a new one, but for now, back in business!

Now time to get back trying to Rule the Universe.

Once you do one, flipper return or drop target spring. They seem to last.

Just bought #840 LE, NIB, black trim. Delivery next week.

Is anyone running one of these?

ebay.com link

Is it worth installing on a new playfield to keep it new?

I wouldn't do it if so. Game is going to play differently.

I have a PF protector because mine came with it. Game plays a little faster. I wouldn't put one on though. Just mylar the shooter lane and play the crap out of it.

#6731 11 months ago
Quoted from LTG:

Two brass screws on top of lockdown bar receiver raise or lower the lever that locks the lockdown bar in place. A little adjusting should help.
LTG : )

A year and a half later. No amount of adjusting has ever helped.

It’s always a major chore trying to lock down the bar.

Always afraid I’m going to hurt myself or break the machine.

Quoted from dashv:

Inside the lockdown bar receiver, does the bar the handle moves back and forth go up or down as needed ?

I'd take the glass off. Set somewhere safe. Lift playfield up and lean back. Put lock down bar on. Then look inside the receiver with a light and move the handle back and forth to figure out which direction up or down the bar needs to go to fit into the notches on the lockdown bar's legs.

Factory settings were based on pic 1.0

Many things needed tweaking with pic 2.0

It's for the better

What exactly is this pic 2.0 and why was it needed in the first place?

Pic 1.0 blew up the solenoid board if you made adjustments.

They released version 2.0 to fix it perfectly. It works better than 1.0

It was free from your distributor. PPS, or CGC.

OH WOW! ...

Yea...I don't want to forget to check this. It's going to be pretty damn disappointing if it's 1.0. I've been REALLY looking forward to playing this thing.

It plays fine with 1.0

Just dont make any adjustments until the 2.0 chip is installed.

It should come with the game.

That is up to you if you want to put a playfield protector on or not. Some people like them and some do not. If you know what you are doing, you will have the protector on in one afternoon. We have games with a protector on and games without. I cannot tell the difference in play between the two.

I am not confident of any manufacturers playfield quality so I have started putting playfield protectors on every game we own. For us, we think the investment is well worth it. As long as you keep the maintenance and cleaning up, you will have no issues. I definitely do not miss ball track marks, dimpling and chipping on all the new playfields.

Good Luck and welcome to the club. Game rocks!

Push down on CENTER of lockdown bar while closing the lever with the other hand. Use the brass screws to fine tune and adjust the snugness as LTG stated.

It’s literally two different surfaces entirely. How would it not play differently?

Go for it... =)

Umm, just like I know sitting on this couch would not be the same as without the "protector". I don't need to own one to know.

Thanks, guys. Yeh, I guess if I absolutely hate the way it plays, I can always remove it. I wouldn't consider it on a used game, but I'd like to keep the playfield pristine, even though it's only HUO. I don't have them on any other machines, but I bought one for the new CPR Gold TAF playfield that I'll eventually get around to installing. Same rationale.

The other alternative would be this:

Hahaha!! That's funny!! My grandmother had that on her couch. It was SO AWFUL!

Yes, where you'd expect (ball drop areas), but not in the shooter lane or around the drain hole. I added mylar to these high wear areas - simple.

Make sure to repeatedly try the super skill shot to ensure that the ball gets around that top loop consistently. I had to adjust my launch solenoid angle, as well as the shooter ramp and open a ticket for the orbit lane guide(?) replacement (which not all games needed, apparently). All relatively easy fixes and CGC was quick to respond with help and advice.

Fascinating!

Welp, the game just arrived around 30 mins ago. Here soon I'll work on getting the legs on, leveled, all that fun stuff.
