Hi All,

Who has seen this issue and can help me with it , whenever the drop targets are down the machine acks funny it gives ball locks when not even close to the lock and triggers the right cow ramp target giving me combos randomly this only happens when the drop target is down the game runs fine when it's up.

Any tips? leads?

Quoted from hlaj78:

Maybe the drop target assembly comes down and causes the wiring for the other switches to make contact. Lift your playfield and manually drop the assembly to see if any loose wires are getting caught up during that process.

the diodes in the dropdown targets (3) where almost hitting each other (bad repair job) so whenever the center target was down it would sometimes register ball locks or hit the ufo. all fixed now

Here are some pic's attached playfield is a little rough near the scroop and center target but she plays fine don't think i can ever restore the damage on that without swapping the whole PF

After the winter i am going to add radcals and replace most targets with fresh ones

Thanks for all the love

Decals will be done this summer i am placing radcals because the machine is two floors up and my skills are no no about removing the playfield and backbox for movement downstairs to sand and such.

I am a real noob on pinballs but so far i replaced the cabinet speaker, all the bulbs for leds , broken plastics and installed the Gozmod.
The speakers are humming during game boot you can't hear it while playing , i think it's the AV board so i am going to replace it for a pinsound board and send this one of for repair.

My own next project will be to replace targets for new ones (my solder skills are so so ) so it's a good learning school

Quoted from hlaj78:

You should get some Cliffy protectors to cover the damage.

According to a guy who helped repair some issues with the PIN he said the protectors are installed the repairs after that where done very bad the machine has been in service for 25 years only in arcades and pubs .. (i bought for a really cheap price)

A little video:

Quoted from hlaj78:

You may have protectors, but not cliffys.

Any idea on how to remove the old ones and install cliffys? there is black goo or a filler i guess covering up where the protectors should be.
Also if anyone has a spare backbox insert panel PM me , mine is broken in some places so all leds are glueded in there

The questions keep on coming if i order the 3 bank target ass. and the motor bank ass. is this just plug and play? it seems al diodes are there if i look at the pictures from planetarypinball ... i feel such a noob

Quoted from hlaj78:

You may not need to remove the old mantis protector before installing the cliffy. Send a question to cliffy. Also, there is a complete set of cliffy protectors for this game that you should look into.

Thanks will do! Can anyone tell me if the parts from an afmr can be used in the original? Like the 3 target assembly ?

#682 4 years ago
Quoted from dmacy:

You can but the targets themselves don’t have the diode provisions so you need to modify those or use originals.

i want to plug and play basicly and finding an original is not so easy do i just solder the diodes to the target switches like the orignal or does it need further modification?

#684 4 years ago
Quoted from dmacy:

It needs further modification as there is no lug for the one tab of each target. You can drill out the rivet on the original and put it in the stack of the new one. It’s not a big deal but a PITA.

Thanks for your help, maybe some website carries a new original one.
Is this also the same for the sol scoop?

Installed the Eddy Building mod from mr. tantrum from the pinside forums highly recommend!

*if anyone has a spare bacbox insert tub around let me know*

Quoted from ParisPinballAdct:

I have just ordered mine today, can't wait to get it and install it on my AFM.

Great ! you are going to enjoy it also a good time to install those decals for your targets

#695 4 years ago

Guys question my center 3 target bank is only going down 90 % i already tried adjusting it with the screws under the playfield but no luck , any ideas? is the plastic worn out where the motor pulls the bank down? or does it just to early and can you adjust that somehow?

#698 4 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Make sure it's clean. Switches on it may need adjusting. Or what triggers them is worn.
LTG : )

I am noob but want to learn can you point me a little in the good direction? which switches and what so in clean? removing the assembly seems not to hard

#700 4 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

There is a motor. A cam is turned by the motor which fits in a oblong slot on the target bank. Be sure these plastic moving parts are clean and not worn. There are two micro mini switches, one high, one low, on the cam. Each one has a roller on it's arm. Only two switches like it on there. Not counting the stand up target leaf blade switches.
In test, run it up and down to see if it's binding on anything. Playfield, wires, etc.
LTG : )

Thank you for the tips! in advance is there any place around that sells a new motor assembly and 3 target bank assembly?

#703 4 years ago

Thanks for the links, i did some inquirys if they can source the parts needed , i need to take a dive in the deep removing the motor ass en target bank ass seems simple like disconnecting some cables and removing some screws...

#704 4 years ago

Well i ordered the 3 target assembly and the motor assembly from planetary pinball and a service guy is going to help me out on adding diodes and replacing the connectors as the ones from planetarypinball seem for the AFMR

Question can anyone tell me the part number for the complete wire harness for the backbox lights? the cables with all the sockets on them and the cable that connects to the backbox thanks !

#708 4 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

I don't believe there is a part number. And no way to order one anyway. You'd have to make it.
LTG : )

First to get a new insert panel which is nearly impossible
