Quoted from Dr_Gonzo:After wanting to join the club for 20 years I'm finally in! Took about a 7 hour trip today but I'm home. AFM is spending the night in the garage still loaded however as I'm a bit beat after a long day. I found a cut wire from the T target in Martian that needs fixed. It didn't come with a manual, so I need to figure out where it should go and also order a manual. The drop target also is not staying up as it should, drops whenever it is hit instead of just when destroying the saucer. It came with pingraffix mods, all of them I think. Illuminated blades, illuminated head side art, and the illuminated translight. I didn't even know these existed. There's no power to the translight, as the seller wasn't sure how to hook it up. Neither am I, will need to figure it out. I was given an inverter with it, and there's 2 others installed that drive the blades and head art. Maybe I can find some instructions online. Playing and looking at fixes tomorrow. Cold beer for me now, whew. Long day but worth it!
I feel your pain, every pin I buy I have to collect as the UK pin transport guys don’t come my way. I was lucky with my AFM only 3 hours away but a few years ago it took nearly 24 hours to get a TAF due to the exhaust pipe on my van coming off, then only the other week picking up a pin (another day out) I had a blow out at 100mph but just about held it together. Joys of pinball.
A cold beer fixes everything.
SOL hole area was really bad and had been badly repaired before. Some filling, sanding, decal cutting and Mylar soon had it looking good.
Cliffy now sits flat and making the shot is so much easier now. Ruled the universe after a couple of games of finishing it!
My AFM died Friday night with family around, was playing ok then after while in attract mode just GI lights were on. Totally dead.
I have had a hangover since and only just managed to check it, it would not boot and had the bong with only GI lights on.
Opened the backbox hoping it had external batteries which it did, moved a few ribbon cables and pushed a few chips and then turned it on.
All good, phew. Did some reading in between and a bit wiser for it.
Would have been very annoying if it was battery acid damage, if you can’t remember best check!
Quoted from DaveTheTrain:It's all comets. The issue was a new Afterglow GI design that had faults. The creator has found the issue and revised the design. So now it's perfect! Beautiful dimming GI!
I'd love to be able to get the blackout board for strobe multiball though pinbits seem to be unresponsive.
Jim did/does them mate https://www.mypinballs.com/electronics/gi_blackout.jsp
Quoted from wrd1972:Please pardon me if this has already been asked.
I recently picked up a very nice original AFM, and I was wondering if there has ever been any discussion regarding modding it to use the larger DMD with the enhanced graphics like found on the AFMR.
Now I totally understand that there are currently hardware and architectural limitations that would make this difficult to do, but has there ever been any talk about trying to pull it off in one form or another. Maybe there could be an interface board with the new images that could connect from the CPU to the DMD. Yes it would be difficult and likely expensive, but it would be bad-ass if someone could pull it off.
Thanks.
You can get a HD XL pin2dmd display and make a new speaker panel with smaller speakers, I fitted one to my STTNG and it looked great.
Stumblor was doing the complete kits but he is deep in his GZ mod at the moment.
