Follow on to the powder coating... kinda got the bug.

The gloss black looks amazing.. it’s not installed yet, but I’m thinking of getting the
lockbar receiver,
playfield support brackets,
Left VUK up kicker (already black but not gloss)
Voltage box near coin door
Playfield support bar.

Think these will look good.. but how far would you go!?

The ball guides.. what’s people’s thought on getting those done? The big metal piece below the apron for example..

#1002 3 years ago

My ball lock (first shot on the center ramp) has started activating the cow ramp, awarding a tractor beam light. Both ramps share the same “exit” switch on the right ramp exit. I replaced the diodes on the cow ramp and exit switch, but it didn’t improve anything.

Any suggestions on this?

Added over 3 years ago:

EDIT: I've jiggled and reseated some wiring at the switch matrix "box" switches and it appears to have resolved itself. Must have been a short somewhere; I'll investigate further if the issue returns.

I really need to buy this decal and do this on mine. Ok, where is it from?

#1006 3 years ago

That’s easily the best backboard decal I have seen.

#1007 3 years ago

Decal was on Ebay.. from Russia

I think I got the last one, but could try contacting the seller to see if they will make more

#1009 3 years ago

Hi guys! I am selling that backboard decal and side blades and a lot of things for pinball. Who interested to buy it, send me a message. I will provide small discount on sales outside of eBay.

They made in style of backboard decal. Maybe not a best quality picture. but you can see when they installed.

I have both the backboard a side artwork in my machine, to me the best versions out there. Here they are installed

Very tempted.

Such shiny. Much Beautiful!

#1020 3 years ago
Quoted from allsportdvd:

No--they fit below the rails and are designed to but up against them.

But my right rail was beat to hell, so I took the opportunity to replace it.

Quoted from Kevlar51:

I've never heard of this. Doesn't it make it tough to sand and prep the cabinet with the rails on?

#1022 3 years ago

You pretty much just stick them over the top of the cabinet

#1023 3 years ago

I believe you can see the original artwork underneath if you just slap them on. So I would assume some prepping and a coat of paint under is needed

#1024 3 years ago
Quoted from Pinhead1982:

Ugh, I would never do that!

#1025 3 years ago

Right—the benefit of Rad Cals is less cabinet prep. They are stiff, laminated decals that won’t be affected by some scrapes to the cabinet underneath, whereas traditional decals wouldn’t work.

I did fill in a couple heavy gouges and squared off the corners with resin.

I also painted over the art with a light coat of some black acrylic paint. But didn’t require anywhere near a full cab strip.

Another choice I made was to recess the cabinet carriage bolts (and I replaced them with elevator bolts that have a flat head). This gives a uniform smooth appearance. A downside to leaving the carriage bolts out with these is it can create “donuts” around the bolts where the decal warps.

Snooping around under my playfield and I found this cable to nowhere. Should this be plugged in somewhere? Other end is in the center junction box slot, all wires lead to those loose plugs.

[quoted image][quoted image]

The 12 pin plug in the power box sets the input voltage (eg 110v, 230v) which can differ depending upon the country you're in. The wires that then lead from that plug to the other side of the cabinet are there to power a Dollar Bill Validator (DBV) in your coin door (it's go where the 2 rectangular cutouts in the coin door are). If you look at the serial number label on the inside of your cabinet, you'll see that the machine name has DBV at the end of it, indicating that it was manufactured with the DBV coin door and the cable to power it.

So no need to worry about those wires.

Does anyone here have the WPC-95 backbox blackout relay mod installed in their game and have opinions on it? Just ran across it, and it seems interesting. I’m usually not a mod guy, but I like the idea behind it.

I don't have the blackout mod, but I do have the GI OCD board, which has capabilities in its settings to achieve the same effect as the blackout mod.

In short, it's impressive and makes the game more challenging. In a very dark room, you really only see the balls in short bursts; it's a cool effect that you really can't appreciate with a stock machine.

The con there (for me) is this effect gave me a bad headache, bordering on motion sickness. So if you have a propensity for that, be aware.

When I purchased my AFM the replay was set at 14 billion. Now that I've had it for a while the replay is now 7.8 billion. Ugh....

A frustratingly fun game.

I have the pinbits blackout mod installed in my AFM. It originally was in my MB because it’s great for flasher effects but really makes strobe MB fun and hard cool experience if you play with lights off give it a try. If you play light on don’t bother

Looking for a set of rule cards for my AFM. Can anyone point my in the right direction?

I wasn't a big fan of the ones that came with my machine and would like something else....even if it's customized. Thanks.

End of year sale from Mickspinball.com

From now until midnight on the 31st., a set of four, LED Big O Jiggly Martians will be discounted $20.00, or $10.00 off for a full set of Big O Jiggly Martins, no LED’s.

The kit contains everything needed to install and secure.

This is a great addition to your original AFM, and a chance to upgrade to larger and much more Jiggly playfield Martians.

If the web site doesn’t automatically make the discount, I will refund it separately for you.

Thank you,

Mickspinball

Just been spending many hours on pinsound over the last weeks.
Anyone out there done an alternate mix or tweaked the original at all.
260 odd call outs, 280 odd sfx files...what a mission.

There is only one version up online so just wondering if anyone has a mix they want to share.

Hi All, New ATF owner here (my first real machine!, although already bought another (star trek )

Does the game think you've already hit that target?

#1047 3 years ago

Thanks for the quick replys!

yzfguy: yes that would help! dinner was ready was in a rush

Quoted from Kevlar51:

No the target isn't already active, it registers when hit in the mode and the little guy in the LCD stops jumping so dosent appear to be a switch issue.

Quoted from paulg100:

Look at the bottom of his plunger. He should rest on a rubber grommet. If it's missing the plunger rides too low in the coil and doesn't get a full whack.

Also if the rubber grommet is there, see if it has degenerated and is sticky and holding the plunger down.

Great suggestion LTG I had this issue on my Medieval Madness where the trolls wouldn't pop up - and it didn't need to be that sticky either to stop it from working
