I tried to attach a 1.3MB PDF file. It uploads fine but when I post all you see is somthing like [attachment=1384097,] and no attached file link (see my test above). Is it possible to attach files other than images to posts?

Thanks for clarifying. I'll do the same as you, i.e. Dropbox. It would be useful for the upload area to have some text around it stating the current limitations on file uploads. Would also be useful if it were to refuse to upload unsupported files.
