Sounds like cheating to me.

Quoted from gliebig:

What does GI stand for? Sorry, new to this. So many abbreviations to learn on this site.

General Illumination; all the bulbs that light up the playfield. The other lights or controlled/insert lights are the ones under the playfield inserts

Having issues with some flashers not working or being weak...I'll have to check if the power is low.

#78 9 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

Is there some mode called turtle xxx, or am I seeing things?

I believe there are some random fake ones in there...like the video mode.

#81 9 years ago

Never dealt with an overlay. I was looking into it and read you had to clear it after and sounded like too much work

#82 9 years ago

Got a question for you all. I noticed yesterday that i have 2 flashers that are not working. The are in the middle of the PF, red dome on left by slam ramp, and 89 under PF by the upper flipper.
Neither of these work, and I also noticed they don;t have a section to test them in the single flasher test....what's up with that?

#84 9 years ago
Quoted from Mando:

This one does not require clear coat, had it on my old NGG and I could barely tell it was there.

Cool thanks!

#86 9 years ago
Quoted from volkdrive:

They are linked to the spinner flashers, work with them at same time. Left and Right spinner flashers in test.

Appreciate it!

Quoted from Mando:

Have any of you put LED flashers in?

I have LED Flashers in mine and it looks good.

#131 9 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

What's everyone's high score?

High Scores vary so much from machine to diff'rent rules. Just fixed battery holder so mine probably little over 100

#149 9 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

Spent the weekend changing some LED colors, replaced some post sleeves,

Make sure to put the correct tapered post sleeve to the right of the right ramp.

#151 9 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

The black one to the right of the Buzz ramp?

Correct

#153 9 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

I didn't mess with that one. Seemed like to much trouble to get to just to change a color.

It's actually a diff'rent shape.

#158 9 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

Interesting. Mine must have been replaced with a regular post sleeve. Should I replace it? Does it make a difference?

From what I've seen it's rarely actually on machines...usually like yours, and mine, people just put a normal on that they have lying around. I would replace it when you can just to get it to stock. I haven't even replaced mine yet...need a couple minutes to get it in there

Quoted from gliebig:

Fuse appears ok although I have no tool to test it. I can't seem to fix anything on these machines. Gets a bit frustrating.

Well put in another fuse to make "sure."

It DOES get frustrating at times no doubt. But you have to build your arsenal of tools that will help.
I cheap DMM could tell you if it's the fuse right away and take away some grief....sometimes anyway.
Don't worry, it'll come around

Go into switch test most and then open & close the EOS switch of the upper flipper and see if it is registering....although EOS shouldn't matter that much...had an error like that for a long time...oh wait, I should probably get around to that

Quoted from gliebig:

I do think I've found the culprit to my problems.
What causes something like that to happen?

Quoted from gliebig:

Hmm. Good to know. I guess that's the same for the red, white and blue ones too?

Come on guys, you don't know the diff'rence betwixed a flasher 906 and a bulb 555?

#269 8 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

^My first pin ever and first time at changing bulbs. My apologies for not being the encyclopedia britannica of everything pinball.

Just poking some fun, I apologize.

#271 8 years ago
Quoted from Skyemont:

I hope u r kidding. That's my buddy.

Kidding aboot apologizing? Do you want me to take it back now?

#274 8 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

Looking to get some apron cards for the NGG. Where is a good place to them?
...flashers working again. New proper bulbs from cointaker installed.

Me either, I have taken files like this to Kinkos before, mostly to get a thicker paper stock. Pretty quick job.

Quoted from thall17:

Just joined the club picking up a HUO with 87 plays.

In the package (goodie bag) that came with the machine there appears to be two half moon shaped piecies of I think mylar. Should they do under the ramp?
What a fun game! Have yet to complete 9 holes

Congrats! Although that is highly highly highly unlikely.

Mylar probably for front of slings...you don't need it.

#359 8 years ago
Quoted from tmay:

This is the exact issue I am facing. Did you ever find a fix for this problem?

Never had the problem but it would reason there's a switch down there that needs tweaking. It goes in putting green and does not activate switch, which is why it has to wait for the ball search. So go in switch test mode and try it out.

#363 8 years ago
Quoted from Hogey:

He is asking $3950. I played it a few games and enjoyed it. Is this price in line with the market for these in excellent condition?
Thanks.

It's all what the slam ramp damage is worth to you. Do you want one without damage? Of course, but you pay too steep a premium IMO. Usual games can be found around 3000 with some playfield divots, so basuically you're paying at least 700 for no damage in that area. The damage usually doesn't affect gameplay, so it's really an aesthetic thing.

NGG usually usually have nice cabinets and the PF are usually fine otherwise. For someone that owns one, it's not worth it to me.

#366 8 years ago
Quoted from mickthepin:

It's the poor man's version on MM get it now before the price goes sick

It's nothing like MM in layout or rules, and it's been holding a steady price for years.

#369 8 years ago
Quoted from mickthepin:

Just think it's a very underrated game was what I was saying.

Yeah, totally underrated just like MM Ha just kidding my man!

Thanks

I thought it would be fun to cross CaddyShack with the game.

Yeah I can never get into the crossing over schtick.

#424 8 years ago
Quoted from Rum-Z:

I challenge you to find more crossover.

Shit that aint no joke; but I accept your challenge. Don't forget the Egypt action with mummies and all!

Quoted from sevenrites:

I'm starting to get annoyed with the price gouging some of these "mod" people are coming up with.

Ha, these were actually the original mods that pissed me off, way before LEDs were the norm.
I always try to tell people it literally takes 2 pieces of wire, a cost of 2 cents, attach them to gi or the legs of twist in bulb holder.

#455 7 years ago
Quoted from vcloverjr:

Art from Comet Pinball may be able to help with the LED lighting.

Agreed but remember Art is retiring I believe? No?

Joined the club.
This game must have best flow of any PL game?

By far, but sadly lacks the staying power of the others.

#489 7 years ago

I'm glad you enjoy it. Big Lawlor fan myself and it just couldn't last for me. Had a ton of fun with it and not here to bash it.

Quoted from BobC:

I wonder where you can get older versions...

I don't think you have to worry much. There's a menu setting that makes Buzz & Bud calm down for the family.

#502 7 years ago
Quoted from Robl45:

Yes, you ideally want the older one as the gofers are ruder in the speech, but the older one doesn't have the option to kick out through the pop bumpers so you have it shooting SDTM all the time.

Oh fair enough I didn't know that.

#666 7 years ago
Quoted from Robl45:

Color DMD is nice, you are missing the flag and captive ball though.

Also have the incorrect yellow rubber/post sleeve on the post next to the right orbit, but of course this has to be the most common incorrect rubber ever.

Quoted from AndHart120:

Thanks for the info! If I had a high quality scan of this I might be able to make one these better myself with label materials and laminate as long as I could color match.

Honestly I had gouges in mine and it never affected the gameplay once. Everyone's pinball happiness will be increased if you just don't sweat the small stuff.
