If it's not the switch causing the ball to get hung up after the kick, the kicker arm may be (probably is) worn/mushroomed where it contacts the ball as it kicks it, that's a common issue. Causes the ball to be thrown too much 'up' vs. forward down the trough. And it's not a great design to begin with.
