These are the good Consoles that have the pinball buttons on the sides.

Supports rotating monitors upright mode (or turning your projector on it's side)

Comes with 150 games, but you can load 10000s coin op games yourself

You can use it as a Steam controller or PC controller with USB

Has new 1.1 trackball

Supports 2 players, or for dual joystick for Robotron

You can use it wirelessly via bluetooth ( I would not do that, because anything wireless in gaming seems laggy to me, but YMMV)

I assume this will sell out fast

Guts of the deck

Looks like all standard buttons and controls. Easy to replace if you wear out a switch, or want to go crazy with LED lighted stuff

snapshot (resized).jpgsnapshot (resized).jpg

Check out the blue single cell rechargeable battery, lol

#8 2 years ago
Quoted from VALIS666:

Sounds like people have problems with them via bluetooth

Of course.

If something is going to suck (for gaming or audio) it's going to be bluetooth.

Just like headphones, plug it in with a wire for best performance!

#13 2 years ago

Even if ATgames went out of business and all the circuit boards fried, you could just put a raspberry pi inside of it

You are not helpless

I got a laugh looking at the guts and seeing that single Blue rechargeable battery cell inside... Like an '80s Bally

#16 2 years ago
Quoted from metallik:

Where is the USB connector? Not seeing it in the external or guts pics.

It's on the front, next to the connector you use if you want to replace the ATgames stand up version's control panel

Quoted from VALIS666:

No doubt. Bluetooth can't even send a consistent signal from my phone to a cheap Bose speaker 6' away when I'm exercising or showering, forget higher demand stuff like gaming or hi-fi.

The smoker I have, has 4 bluetooth probes, and will lose connection somehow if I'm more than 25 feet from the grill.

I put my tablet at the backdoor to monitor - much easier than it connecting and re-connecting constantly to my phone

Quoted from Monk:

I wonder if you can connect the 2 single player joysticks together to play one game. That would be nice so I don't have to sit so close to

You can, with a USB dock/hub (see post further down the thread)

Or on a PC or other gaming console, there are obviously multiple USB ports available

#28 2 years ago

1/8” acrylic top, very nice.

In theory, you could print new graphics and lay the clear acrylic over the top to customize.

Joysticks have nice positive click in eight directions, buttons click at about 3/4 of their travel

Much better than I expected

#29 2 years ago

You can charge the wireless deck with USB or a 12 volt , Center positive, wall wart adapter

I would have expected the power adapter to also require 5 volts like the USB port

The white connector is if you want to drop this deck into the ATgames stand up arcade machine.

Quoted from Monk:

I wonder if you can connect the 2 single player joysticks together to play one game. That would be nice so I don't have to sit so close to my smelly friends. Although no track ball so that's a no go.

You could get one dual deck for you, and one single for friends

Realistically, how many 2 player trackball games do you play?

Atari X&O football is the only one I can think of from the top of my head

X-Arcade better.... Mic Drop

For all that money, it better be

#36 2 years ago
Quoted from acedanger:

I got mine three years ago free shipping on Xmas sale 150. Track ball on this is garbage...

It's like $250 nowadays and does not come with a computer brain unit, it's just a control panel

I'm sure you can upgrade your trackball, but when I tried the X-arcade, it seemed fine to me.

#39 2 years ago
Quoted from Monk:

Can you give a quick breakdown as to where you get the games

https://archive.org/details/@nagaidevil

The D/L you want is called "Coinops X Arcade Version 5 Is Alive Saucey Edition" , it's usually near the top

archive.org needs you to sign up to download a file that large, it's free and legit, don't worry - it's like a 70gb download

If you already have an archive.org account, the direct link is https://archive.org/details/getsauceywithCoinopsX_ArcadeV5

I'd use the torrent file, just in case you get interrupted during the d/l

#42 2 years ago
Quoted from Haymaker:

vid1900 do you know if its possible to get something like an aimtrak light gun and use it with this setup? Would the light gun plug into the controller or the control puck?

You plug it into the puck using a USB hub

#43 2 years ago

Flips your joystick restrictor plate from 4-way to 8-way on the fly

Super clever, uses a little motor, $19 on Amazon

You probably only need 1, because most 4-way games are single player at time

Track ball can wear out quick. I 3D printed shims I found online. These are a bit different but close enough. Might be good to do it before problems occur.

Did those fit your TB?

The kid at GS said the consoles in the plain brown boxes were newer, with a different TB

Old version:

#47 2 years ago
Quoted from Kderrick:

The ones I printed worked well. I had to shave a little off to get them to fit properly.
I’ve had the full LU cab for a few months (not sams club version). I didn’t know they made any changes to the track ball housing.

Sweet, I'll have to give them a shot

Thanks!

If you want to create your own graphics to go under the acrylic top, ATgames has provided a template here:

Just like the upright, you MUST oil the 5 ball bearing assemblies

Directions on next page...

#51 2 years ago

Feel each rubber foot at the bottom and figure out where the screw hole is.

Lift back part of the rubber foot and remove the dozen screws with a #2 Phillips
IMG_20220313_175136.jpgIMG_20220313_175136.jpg

#52 2 years ago

Before removing the bottom, carefully disconnect the two ribbon cables that go to the pinball buttons on each side of the bottom of the case, don't accidentally rip them out.

Using a #0 Phillips, remove the three tiny screws that hold the trim ring to TB

Ball will instantly drop out, so be ready for it

IMG_20220313_180419__01.jpgIMG_20220313_180419__01.jpg
#53 2 years ago

Remove the four #2 Philips screws from the underside of the control deck and the ribbon cable from the trackball assembly

Now you will see the x and y directional encoder shafts, and the freewheeling z-axis

Note the orientation of the z axis shaft as it has two different size appendages, and a tiny Teflon spacer

IMG_20220313_181126__01.jpgIMG_20220313_181126__01.jpg
#54 2 years ago

Using a needle oiler or toothpick, carefully drip some light oil into the grooves that lead inside the bearing cage.

You can use sewing machine oil, zoom spout, or super lube Teflon - whatever you use on your playfield spinners

You will see the oil get absorbed into the grooves as you turn the bearings

About the 20th spin you will notice that the bearings now spin free

Don't leave any excess oil on the shaft, clean up with acetone or brake cleaner on a q-tip. Otherwise the ball will collect dust

IMG_20220313_181442__01.jpgIMG_20220313_181442__01.jpg
#55 2 years ago

Now the trackball will spin like a sonobitch.

Also note, the new Sauce software released this weekend fixes the trackball problems in centipede and millipede that were introduced by the .59 firmware

You might wait a few days for bug reports, but so far it seems like there were only a few

Make sure you buy a fast USB 3.1 mem stick, or it will take forever to copy the 6000 coinop games onto it.

Make sure you put the stick into a fast USB3 (usually blue) port on your computer when you copy. If you have a desktop, choose a USB3 port that is on the motherboard itself, not the jacks in the front.

Amazon is notorious for selling counterfeit mem sticks (even if "sold by amazon"), so get yours from Adorama or B&H Photo to be sure it's real:

#57 2 years ago

You are going to want a USB 3 hub, so you can plug the Mem stick and the Control Deck in at the same time to the Puck (or multiple controllers).

This is a nice, compact unit, that actually has a USB3 chipset inside (many have blue ports, but still only do USB2 speeds)

I've tested this, it works fine:

#58 2 years ago

This looks insane and it does not help that everything is black, lol

But this configuration works perfectly:

1. USB Hub captive cable from Hub to USB 3 port on Puck

2. Micro USB Power Cable from wall wart that came with the Control Deck

3. USB Mem Stick

4. USB A/Micro Cable from Hub (USB A) to power Input on Puck (Micro USB)

5. USB A/A Cable From Hub to Control Deck (I used a 15 foot, braided cable)

6. HDMI Cable to Monitor (make sure if you are using a television, you plug into the port marked GAME). If your tv is old and does not have a GAME port, turn off all the processing BS like "Smoothing, noise reduction, scaling", for the quickest response time, for that port. Some tvs allow any port to become GAME, but you have to dig into the menus to access it.

IMG_20220317_224730__01.jpgIMG_20220317_224730__01.jpg

#59 2 years ago

If you are like me, you want the ATgames to boot directly into all the 6000 coinop arcade games 95% of the time.

This feature is actually buried in the menus:

First, go to Basic Settings
IMG_20220317_222439__01.jpgIMG_20220317_222439__01.jpg

Then go to Advanced Settings
IMG_20220317_222509.jpgIMG_20220317_222509.jpg

#60 2 years ago

Then find Startup Page, it's buried on Page 3

IMG_20220317_222418.jpgIMG_20220317_222418.jpg

#61 2 years ago

Then go to Installed Apps

IMG_20220317_222337.jpgIMG_20220317_222337.jpg

#62 2 years ago

Finally, choose CoinOPSX

Now as soon as you power up, it will start with the 6000 game splash screen!

(your wife and kids will thank you for not having to try to find and launch the coin-ops games, when all they want to do is play a quick game of Ms Pacman)
IMG_20220317_222401.jpgIMG_20220317_222401.jpg

#64 2 years ago

Your wife and kids will also appreciate if you print them a Reference Card (sticker?), showing how to navigate through 6K games.

Otherwise, the choices can be overwhelming to someone who just wants to turn it on and go

(print the 3rd choice, "Legends Ultimate", if you got the $99 deal )

Quoted from Kderrick:

My load time is 6-8 minutes for coinops. It’s 7500 games on a mini USB and no flashx. Is this normal? What can I do to speed it up? Once it’s up it scrolls fine and the games play great.

Probably a counterfeit memory stick.

If you ever go on the Canon camera or drone forums, you will see thousands upon thousands of people who have bought counterfeit memory devices from Amazon

Because memory sticks are popular, other unscrupulous sellers will fill Amazon's warehouses with counterfeit product. Because the UPCs are the same, Amazon workers are allowed to pull from the other seller's stockpiles, contaminating the supply.

Milwaukee tools won't honor any Amazon purchased tool warranties, because they are all fakes. Amazon even appears to have an official **Milwaukee Store**, lol....it looks very convincing.

#71 2 years ago
Quoted from Kderrick:

That is frustrating. What is your load time?

From the moment I flick the power strip, it takes 1:47 for CoinOPSX to begin

I never set up wifi, so I'm not sure if that affects boot time.... but if it's asking for me to log in, I never see it under the splash screen

Quoted from kcZ:

Trackball on Centipede is not working...grrr

What version of the firmware are you running?

What version of CoinOPSX are you running?

#75 2 years ago
Quoted from kcZ:

Saucy v5
Pretty sure the firmware was updated not long ago, how do I get out of CoinOpX now that I changed it to start on startup?

Press RWD button to exit from the Games Menu

Trackball fix for Cent and Mill needs latest firmware AND you need the new SaUCEy 5 from a week ago (the correct one is called "full fix" )

#80 2 years ago
Quoted from kcZ:

I seem to be stuck in the CoinOpX mode. I can play the games but cannot get back out to the normal Legends UI.

Make sure you are plugged in with a USB cable, as it's possible no one bothered to assign the RWD button in bluetooth (or go into settings while connected with BT, and assign the RWD button yourself)

Just a guess, but worth a try...

2 weeks later
#82 2 years ago

Back in stock again if it was sold out for you last time

#83 2 years ago
Quoted from kcZ:

yep, plugged in with USB. Pretty much the same way you have it above. RWD button works in the games.

Turn off your wifi on the puck.

Kids figured out that if wifi is on, you can't exit Coinopsx with the RWD button

#86 2 years ago
Quoted from Parkshow30:

I have the legends stand up arcade. Is there a work around to the 5 coin ops x thing where you have to sign in again before you can use it? My arcade won’t stay signed in most days and it’s a pain having to sign in all the time.

I don't have have access to the stand up version to test

Try disabling the WiFi from the menu

Then reboot, and log in from the Cat5

Set it up to boot directly into CoinOPSX, then disconnect the Cat5

Reboot, and see if it just goes into CoinOPSX while unable to find a network.....

#89 2 years ago
Quoted from Viggin900:

I got the 7500 stick also from a legit source. Exact same problem. I just think it takes time to read it, wish it was faster.

I'd copy it over to a super fast usb 3.1 memory stick if it takes more than 2 minutes to load, as anyone selling pirate games is not going to worry about giving you a genuine memory stick

Don't buy stick from Amazon !

Use an "exact copy" program, because each stick becomes encrypted to the console

1 week later
#91 1 year ago

Here is latest version review from Wagner

Even has it hooked up to Raspberry Pi for some other fun options

5 months later
#92 1 year ago

CoinOpsX 6 comes out February 3rd

Tons more games, works with the way beefier Atgames Core Max puck, no logging in (although I'm sure you guys have already figured out how to avoid that BS), plays all the CD music games, kids are beta testing it right now.

Don't buy the Core Max Puck now, word on the street is it will be $75 on Black Friday
