Hi All,

Is there normally a considerable amount of audio noise on this game from the displays? It's most noticeable in attract mode when the displays turn on and off.

Thanks!

Relocated the ground point for C3 (9V supply filter) up to the power board. Problem solved.

That's good to know. Both of my Atari's (Superman and Hercules) drive me nuts with that buzzing. I'll try it and report back.

Ok, I'm not finding what your talking about. Can you provide pictures?

Basically, I lifted the negative side of the 8000uf cap on the mpu board and wired it up to ground on the power board instead.

I will take some pix tomorrow evening of a nice clean way to accomplish.

Thanks Dave, I look forward to seeing the pics. I just want to make sure I don't mess up something.

Hopefully these will help and it will work as well on other games as it did on this one.

That's interesting. Thanks for posting the photos. I would be interested to hear if anyone else finds that this helps.

I do believe there's a better way to do this. It's just the ground in general. On our Superman, we changed the ground attachment points. i have to take a picture to explain it. but having solid grounds ensures better reliability in general on this game. And if the ground for this one cap is at issue, i can pretty much guarantee other grounds are flaky too. so it's better to fix the entire ground plane, then it is to fix it for just one capacitor.

I'm interested to see all options available.

Agreed, this worked and I ran with it. Moving the cap ground to the top of the board will probably do the same thing. My thought is that the layout of the grounds on the board is just poor.

Yes, simply disconnecting the (-) of the capacitor from the original ground point and wiring it to the top of the board near the ground strap bolt works just fine. No need for track cutting, etc.

I just did this modification to both my Superman and the Hercules and while it didn't quite it down completely it did eliminate 90% of the buzzing, especially the Hercules which was always super loud and I often would shut the game off so I didn't have to listen to it.
Thanks PinDave for making this posting. You made my day!!
