I believe there is one on Kijiji Ontario for sale. I haven’t looked in a week or 2! Think it was $2200 CAD

Not sure if things have changed but the cost and hassle of importing from Canada seems like it is not worth it and to wait until something pops up stateside may be better? Dealing with brokers, shippers, paperwork when I am just used to calling up NAVL with contact name, address and phone. Anyone have a restored Superman for sale? Are replacement playfields available for Superman?

Did you see this?

Yes I saw this one as well. Not sure what these go for nowadays? Would like to find a restored one if possible? I would have to redo the lights on that Superman to get rid of the skittles
Hey All,
I have an opportunity to buy a superman machine. what are things i should be looking for, ie common issues, parts missing, parts that are unobtanium. any advice in general for when i inspect.
Really appreciated!!
Quoted from Zartan:I think boards are the only unobtainium.
Anything specific on the machine i should look out for?
I would look through this thread and see if a lot of people have the same issues. I know that a few have had issues from using the wrong bulbs.
Quoted from Zartan:I believe there is one on Kijiji Ontario for sale.
At first I thought Kijiji was a city in Canada or something. I guess it is like the craigslist for Canada? Does Canada not use Craigslist? Reminds me of the guys in Utah that use KSL. Interesting format and platform.
Yes, it’s like Craigslist! No, as far as I know we don’t have Craigslist in Canada. I did look up Craigslist Windsor but it’s actually stuff in Detroit.

Who has my Superman?
So I got bit by the bug playing this table on my virtual machine and now I want the real table to play with. The virtual table is super fun and the orchestrated sounds/music really add to the experience.
Just joined the club. The game works but I’m not sure what’s going on with the aligator clips pictured. Can anyone confirm what is supposed to go there? Thanks

That playfield looks really nice, GL on sale.
Quoted from Casinorun:Has anyone tried led's in their Superman? Just bought some today and I am pretty happy with results.

Did the LEDs work for the controlled lamps without flickering??

I once bought a pin from Canada and brought it back to its country of origin (technically it's not an import) in a trailer (it was one of a few that I had bought far away). I had a copy of the eBay auction page.

If my cannabis stocks go up, I might put in an offer.

Couldn't homebrew boards work?
I was checking out my friends Superman and noted all the GI lights are out. Blown F6 10 amp slow blow. Disconnected connector J45, powered on game with circuit breaker in place and backbox lights work , no blown fuse. Hook up j45 and after a bit, blown fuse. Any suggestions? All seems well with light sockets etc. thought maybe the GI lights had something in th sockets shorting them out but no. Little stumped.
Quoted from pinmister:Still hunting for a nice SM for a decent price
pinmister Don't know if you already caught this ad, but one was listed on Pinside in the past day: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-superman-20

Yes, thank you for the heads up I did see it. Unfortunately I do not have time currently for any more projects. I now am looking for a restored Superman or a collector quality example if I can find one. Just got back from PHOF playing their Superman and it made me want the machine even more now. Steve Ritchie is my favorite designer and I feel this game needs to be in my collection someday.
Going to look at this Superman later today. Only thing I know is that its missing legs and doesn't work.
Its a friend of a friend make me an offer kind of deal.
I've got a price in mind, depending on if all the boards are present but curious what would you offer with the (minimal) info known?

Charles_Kline I would offer 600 if it is all there. Heck, looks like you are local to me; if you aren't up for it for whatever reason, I would be interested!

Any other thoughts on what a project like this would be valued at?
I confirmed its got all the boards and displays, backglass looks amazing. Playfield glass is filthy but playfield doesn't look too bad.

Not working, and this game has really high milage. Inserts are ghosted and playfield worn to the wood. Could take a considerable amount of work/parts or could be just a power supply issue? I would value the game at $600-$800 non working, but today's market may garnish more? There are not a lot of games for under $2000 and many are looking for games priced under $2000 or so(projects have dried up). In todays market may fetch $1500-$2000? I want to find one with a nice pf and that seems like trying to find a unicorn. Seems like most of the Atari Supermans have been heavily routed and the condition shows. Good luck with whatever you decide and if you want to sell your Twister-hit me up.
I paid 1,200 in 2021 for a Superman that was working, had legs and play field was in similar condition. I would say 600.00 ish and would love to get my hands on this Superman and restore it...

I paid $1500.00 last year fully working. It was missing the lockdown bar. That was like finding a Unicorn. However, another Pinsider had an extra.

I forgot that I did have a bad chip CD4099B (D4) a long with transistor MPSA06 (Q23) had to be troubleshooted but didn't affect the game play. You can see picture further back in this thread.
Good luck with the game.

Not sure where you see ghosted inserts or your definition of what that is may be different.
Playfield is actually pretty decent. There is some wear around the pop bumpers but nothing too terrible. If you want to see a terrible Superman playfield go to Manitou Springs that thing is basically bare wood.

Since it was a friend of a friend I told them I’d probably be willing to $800 on it depending on if it had all its boards and the backglass was in tact.
I had thought maybe I would offer $600 when I got there if the condition wasn’t as it seemed in the photos. I was happy with how it looked when I got there and thought $800 for a complete game (legs are easy) was more than fair.

*Edit: forgot to add the first thing I did was remove those old batteries and put the backglass inside. We're supposed to still get some 30 degree weather.
Is there a rubber guide for this? Didn't see one in the manual and most of mine were dry rotted and falling off or gone.

Do you have a picture you could send of the blue page? I have all the rubber from Titan already.

Awesome thank you so much
So, just picked up a Superman, with a couple of minor issues (backglass GI, looks like it's got 47s in there - so back to 44s or LED). The first issue that I have to correct is at least one of the leg bolt T-nuts is missing, and it's looking like one for one of the front legs is blown out.
On the back corners, I should be able to just install a bally/williams leg bracket, right? I mean, I guess worse-case I could use some good fender washers on the inside, but that will be a hassle in the future.
Thoughts on the front corner? I don't think that I'll be able to use a leg bracket because of the extra wood blocking the T-nut. I might have to drill through the corner support wood and use a different style, maybe?
edit: flipped my bulbs
Curious if I can get some guidance - I got a very cheap project Superman for 300 bucks. Cabinet and backglass look good, but there are no boards inside at all. I’m guessing there’s no after market boards but I was hoping someone might have one for sale. Any advice?
Bmarion0913 - I have a set of circuit boards that I could consider parting ways with. Happy to discuss if you are interested. Would be curious to see pics of your score too! 300 is practically unheard of and if you decide you want to part ways with it, happy to have a discussion around that too!
Having issues with 4 switches and 5 lights.
The harness on this game is all white wires with tiny numbers and a lot harder to follow than the color coded ones.
The lights will turn on if I jump them with clips to a working light.
I did a reflow on the connectors at the board in case but no different.
All the switches working or not are testing open which I thought was kinda odd.
Any pointers of what to check?
What’s up man!! Sounds like a short. I don’t have a manual in front of me. Are all four switches that are out on the same matrix line?
Do you have the bridge rectifiers in the backbox soldered directly to the lugs? If not, test those with a DMM. They can be problematic with those crappy connectors that Atari used. Cause some weird issues.

Was hoping you would see this.
It's hard to tell if they're on the same line. That's the first thing that I looked for. Each wire is numbered differently. I'll give the bridge rectifiers a test.

I had a similar problem on the light issue. Look back at my post 190 & 192. I just looked at the schematic. Look at J16 and check the transistors Q14 (N Lamp) Q31 (N Lane) Q13 (Same Player Shoots again) & Q30 (Center Left Thumper). If they are good I would suspect the IC chip.
Have you cleaned and checked the gap on the end of stroke switches? Have you cleaned the cabinet flipper switches? The stock flippers should have more oomph than that.
The Williams/Bally flipper full assemblies from Pinball Life are also a possibility, but are "more spendy". I put them in my Atari Space Riders with good results.
