Atari games are super fun. Add me to the list of folks who think it's hilarious that a bunch of pinball fans are criticizing Atari games for being "old and boring."

They didn't sell millions of those things over 15 years because they weren't fun.

Add me as well!

Imagic made killer stuff, their games always looked and sounded so good. I loved Atlantis and Cosmic Ark.

I had a huge collection of Atari stuff I picked up for pennies at mid 1990s yard sales, and sold it all on Ebay around 20 years ago. Like 250 games and a 7800.

Wish I'd kept it all of course, would be fun to play from time to time.

Quoted from Aurich:

Old games are old games. They can feel limited, or hold a special charm. It's really no different than whether or not you can enjoy modern LCD-based games and still appreciate playing EMs.
My vote for favorite Atari game that I think still hold up pretty well is Archon.

Archon rules but there's no way that thing was on Atari. Maybe Atari computers. I think when most people say "Atari" they mean the old 2600.

I used to play Archon and Archon II on the C64. They really were amazing and addictive games, especially against a pal.

Played a lot of the 2600 as a young child, until the NES arrived that is...
Off of the top of my head - The best 2600 games (your opinions may very):
Originals:
1. Pitfall II -the cartridge had lots of extra ROM on it (for switch-banking) allowing advanced sound and graphics capabilities.
2. RiverRaid!
3. California Games
4. Starmaster
5. Decathlon
(with E.T. being the worst)
Best Arcade Ports:
1. Mario Bros.
2. Galaxin
3. Frogger
4. Space Invaders
5. Asteriods
(with Pac-Man and Donkey Kong being the worst arcade ports)

I would add battle zone to list of best ports. No it doesn’t look like the arcade version but it looks and plays fantastic.
