I am a big Steve Ritchie fan and couldn't pass up a deal on the first pinball machine he designed, Airborne Avenger. It's in beautiful condition, no pf wear, perfect backglass, and a great cab. But it doesn't work and I have never seen let alone worked on an atari pinball machine.

So here's where I'm at... turn the machine on and all playfield lights blink, all coils fire and the speaker makes a low hum. That's it. Displays don't light and the test button insider the coin door doesn't function.
I was looking at the main computer board and it looks like some roms are missing so I hoped someone here could look at this picture and verify whether it is correct or not.

I have an AA - I could check - your missing a bunch of connectors that go to the board, are they just off?

On a side note, once you get it working put a powerball in it, plays way more fun that way.

Most expensive part of this machine is those display boards, just FYI - dont break them they are hard to find

I took the pf out, and disconnected the associated connectors from the board. Thanks for the help. I'll check back soon for your update.

Thanks for everything. I pulled one of those roms and a pin was broken off. I'll replace them for good measure. Anyone know who sells these. I noticed a website nuatari.com. are they reputable?

This is the only person I know that has extensive knowledge and parts for Atari games: https://www.flippers.com/

I wouldn't be surprised if John from flippers.com jumped into this thread.

Have had no dealings with nuatari.com. Unless they are selling you new masked PROMs or you find someone with a set, you have to modify the MPU board to accept standard 2716s. From the ROM readme on IPDB:

"In order to run 2716's instead of mask ROMs,
cut the trace between pin 21 and pin 18 of E0 and/or E00,
depending on which is to have the EPROM installed.
After cutting the trace, install a jumper from pin 18
to pin 12 ( ground )."

Somebody like JWJr can easily burn you a set of 2716s for this.

I contacted John at flippers.com via email.
I noticed my board has a bunch of blue jumper wires but yours doesnt, does anyone know why this was done on my board?

#12 9 years ago

John told me the blue jumper wires were factory.

Yeh Im not sure about the wires- Im surprised mine even works, worst part of this game is the odd flipper design, I would like to retro fit some other flipper assembly in mine, maybe John can chime in on that if he's around.
