There is a lot of vibrations and movements on a playfield (when solenoids are working).
I'm not sure it's compatible with an electronic device with a lot of connections.
Have you looked under the PF of any modern pin? Lots of connections and boards mounted there.

They didn't fail because of connection issues. They have... had a circuit design flaw that blows out under heavy load.
