Quoted from o-din:
Nobody will ever forget where they were that night.
And I'll never forget where I was when the Challenger exploded.
And then years later when the Columbia broke up.
For me they were some very memorable moments.

Everyone else at high-school was off on a skiing field trip, but I wasn't interested so I didn't go.
Was having lunch at a friends house, and on our way out we walked back through the kitchen and his mom had the launch on TV. Watched it on a live broadcast as it happened. That, uh, kinda blew the rest of the afternoon at school.

I just wish I could remember all the time I spent in space.
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:
Don't let o-din fool you he remembers this night vividly!
I do remember some smoke and some fire, but the rest is just a blur.

"OH! The humanity"
Wow, I've never seen Wally Wood stuff. When was he active? Looks like he took a lot of inspiration from inside a B-17 bomber. And added a little Mecury Astronaut. Really like it.
Quoted from ccotenj:
not really inspired by other works, but by a person, possibly...

Hi. This is an older thread I just ran across while fishing through the phone lines.
I found it to be very interesting, and I am bumping it up for any others who also may find it so.
Thank you to AlexF for starting it, and to all who contributed to the great discussion!
I was glad to see the thread resurrection as I had not seen these before. These are cool examples and I’m sure there are lots more. I also enjoyed going off and reading about a Wally Wood. Great stuff, although kind of a sad ending. The Disneyland Memorial Orgy is LOL.
Quoted from AlexF:
George Molentin is one of my all time favorites but he must have been under the gun on the backglass for Williams 1957 Arrowhead.
Quoted from AlexF:
I'd love to find the machine someday.
The one sitting next to it's not too shabby either.
