I stripped and painted the aprons last weekend and made a spacer for my switch cover. The paint on the apron will sit for a few weeks before I install the decals. The switch cover is installed and fit great.

Sanding? heat gun? paint dissolver? it seems like sanding would not work due to the dips where the card go and that it is most likely lead-based paint.

Paint stripper.
I did the final sand and buff this weekend. It came out pretty good and I’m happy with the shine. As usual I did have a small setback. While cleaning out two of the holes the outer ply of the plywood pealed up. I’m sure I can fix it so I’m not too worried. I ordered some glue needles and will use them to get glue in between the plies.

The restoration is finally complete. It’s been about two years and way too many dollars, but it’s done. As expected there are still a few problems to sort out. Since it didn’t work at all I made an improvement and in time will get it playing. Here are a few finished pictures.

This turned out really fantastic. I've enjoyed watching all the effort you have put into this restoration to make sure this machine gets another 60 years of life.
