I learned that lesson as well, Jeff. Even with a pdf, their printers are different than mine (and even different store to store), so getting the colors right is kind of a crap shoot. I usually make 4 or 5 version of decals on the same page (pdf or jpg), if they'll fit - each with slightly different colors. Then I see how they turned out and hopefully, one will be close enough color-wise.

I brought my pdf files to Staples tonight and was happy to see the test print on normal paper was perfect. All the fonts and colors looked great. I gave the go ahead and reminder her to change the fuser or whatever that thing is. I’m not sure if she did, but the result was melted paper. She melted 8 pages before I could get her to stop. She was on a mission. I only have 10 pages left and need to find another print shop. Slightly bummed.

After the decal debacle I needed to accomplish something so I did the ball lift rod assembly. I soaked everything in evaporust, tumbled and painted. The only new part is the nylon bushing. Before and after pictures.

Well the decal saga continues. I tried a different Staples and they had a similar problem with the paper jamming. Fortunately they stopped after one page. Next I went to Office Depot and they were able to successfully print all six sheets without any jams or melted paper. I was relieved since that left me with three extra pages just in case. After I got home I realized the dark blue decals are way too dark. They are almost black. That color is on 5 of the 6 pages. Not happy now. I ordered more paper from Amazon and will need to find another print shop.

Thanks for the encouragement. Sometimes I need one of those locker room half time speeches. Today I almost bailed and used what I have, but since I have more paper coming I’m going to try again to make it right. I took a picture of the too dark blue to show what I’m dealing with. It’s so dark it’s hard to see the blue is outlined with black.

I went back to the first Staples store and after two failed attempts on their machine I switched to one of the self serve machines and was successful. I’m looking forward to putting these on. I think it will make a big difference.

I finally got around to installing the decals. It went pretty good until I started putting the light blue numbers on the red background. Instead of blue they turned out almost black. I stopped for now.

Thanks for the nice comment. I still have a problem with the light blue decals that were supposed to be white. When I put them on the red inserts the numbers are almost black. A forum member has offered to make stencils that I can use with my airbrush. I like that solution since I can paint them white. If that doesn’t work I’ll have to go with black. Time will tell.

The last of the decals that can be done have been applied. Now I have to wait until the stencils arrive. I’m not sure how long it takes to ship from Australia.

While I’m waiting on the decals I started cleaning up some of the coin door parts. There are these wire form things at the bottom of the bracket for the coin mechanism that are bent out of shape. Any idea where I can get new ones? They are PN A-4400 for the ten cent mechanism and A-4401 for the 25 cent mechanism.

I finished the coin door. The door is new from Steve at PBR and everything else was cleaned, polished or painted. I need to get a 10 and 25 cent arm for the coin accepter. I’ll try PBR first. Here are a few pictures. Next is installing the door and frame on the cabinet.

I installed the coin door and the rest of the parts for the front of the cabinet. For now I plan to leave the door in chrome and will decide later if I want to paint it beige. I’m still waiting for the playfield stencils. The mail system is killing me.

This past week I received the stencils for the white letters and numbers. They were made by a very helpful Pinsider in Australia. The amount of help I’ve received from fellow Pinsiders is amazing and I’m grateful. Before they arrived I started working on the bottom relay board. I made a new board from plywood and put on a couple coats of pecan polyurethane. I also disassembled, cleaned and painted some of the metal parts. It still has a long way to go. I plan to jump back on the playfield again so they will go on the back burner.

I applied a can of Spraymax on the playfield last night to lock down the decals. It went well. I put two dust coats down, followed with a medium coat and then emptied the can. I’ll let it sit for a week or so and then use the stencils to do the white. I’d like to get this done before the heat and humidity.

I did the white letters/numbers using stencils and my airbrush. I’m glad I held out for the stencils since I like the white better than the black decals. I need to clean up a few things but after that I can apply the last two cans of Spraymax.

I installed the bottom board and made as many connections as possible. I applied power for the first time and it wasn’t completely successful. The 2nd player score reels reset to zero and the tens reel on first player also reset. I have something off since all the first player reels won’t reset and the score motor continues to run. Other than not working I’m happy with the progress. Although not original I ordered a switch cover today from Space Coast Pinball.
