“Are You Buying POTC”

  • Heck yeah, already have it pre-ordered! The playfield, artwork, and gameplay look amazing. Who cares if there is no original score, video clips showing actor faces or actor callouts? 73 votes

  • Probably. I have not put down a refundable pre-order yet. I am waiting to see what the final game looks like. Limited license rights is somewhat concerning, but it is not a deal killer. 38 votes

  • Probably not. Limited license rights and incorporation of licensed material has me greatly concerned. But I am still holding out hope that JJP incorporates more into the game in the final product. 30 votes

Looking forward to JJP stream on Wed. So is David Thiel's sound work on POTC completed? Love what he did on Alien and his results on POTC will impact my decision to buy. My worry is that as a new member of the Deeproot team, it was reported he could not work on other projects, but that info seemed a little sketchy.

I would've selected a different license.

I thought you were a Stern basher only Mike.

This complaint is an irrelevant whiny crybaby even for you.

I'll be putting my first plays on PTOC at Amusement Expo International in Vegas on February 28 in the JJP booth, just two weeks from now. And then at Arcade Expo 4.0 March 16-18 where we'll have all four JJP titles on free play.

My expectations are high after buying and loving WOZ ECLE. I love reading feedback, watching live streams but most of all, making my own opinion by playing myself and then seeing how the rest of my family enjoys it.

Not sure if I can afford a NIB PTOC but we'll see what terms and funds I have available later this year.

I'm about 85% done with the first pass of Pirates. After everything is there I will spend some time testing and enhancing it. I'm doing the next JJP title as well. After that Deeproot work will dominate my efforts for some time. JJP's Pirates is coming along great and I think the community will be pleased.

Do we have an idea when these will actually start shipping?

May-ish seems most likely.

As a freelancer it is not for me to reveal anything about JJP#5. It is common knowledge that Pat is up next. I've been thinking about what I need to do for JJP#5 for a number of months but mentally I've mostly been in the Caribbean. I'll hit the ground running pretty soon. It's exciting!

Any word on what this laser cut topper the LE is supposed to come with looks like?

It looks similar to the Stern Star Wars R2D2 topper, non existent! Knowing JJP, they will hit it out of the park like most things they do. They have yet to let me down yet.

Funny about the R2-D2, I'm wanting this as well. Where the hell is it already!

The laser potc topper you would think has to be designed at this point and am surprised they aren't showing it with the LE so you know what your getting. I had a LE ordered and cancelled but am reconsidering now since it appears the next Stern is likely to be Iron Maiden. Was hoping for a Beatles machine so might be a good time to buy my first JJP!

Just an Assumption but with the big March Texas show my guess is the Oems will want Something to unveil. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Both toppers unveiled?

You just bought approval for your next pin in the future.

Very true. Brownie points.

It may not taste better but it looks better.

But you get back a good % of that expense if you sell before the appliance color goes out of style.

It was the best money I ever spent as now my wife spends much more time cooking.

Exactly the reason I won't remodel mine.

Have a question for those that have played potc. After watching the live stream a couple times, the one thing that jumps out at me is the ball times. This seems to have some of the longest ball times I've ever seen. Did you get the same impression playing it or do they have all their posts closed and setup super easy?

The 3 guys playing in the stream are all A level tournament players so I'm sure that added to the ball times but yes the game does appear to be designed a level of depth that requires longer game times than most. It's more of a "quest" type game like LOTR or Hobbit where a lot of your time is spent in multi-ball. I think it's a good thing as that level of depth and immersion is perfect for a home environment. It's awesome that we have such variety in the new releases today where games that are polar opposites like TNA and JPOTC can both be successful!

#226 6 years ago

I agree with mike! It seemed at expo that the line to play was moving pretty fast! I am a average player and it seemed if it did not drain my ball times were around 3 to 4 minutes. Excellent game and the more to code being finished the better this game will get!

Good to know.

Does the ball on the maelstrom ramp just loop back to the flipper or can the ball go down the hole in the center? Don't think I've seen that happen in any of the videos.

there's a divertor to send it into the whirlpool.

That's cool - don't think I saw any footage of that happening. I figured the whirlpool must be there for a reason!

Eric showed my wife and I some of the game stats that he looks at for the Level 257 prototype location. The average ball time on that public pin was 3 minutes and about 34 seconds if I remember right. He said that they do want to target about 3 minute ball times for locations and would adjust code to tweak that in. When we played it over 25 times, we only had a few balls that played for over 5 minutes. We are just mediocre players in the middle of the standings on a local pinball league as reference. Eric and Keith are exceptional players that know the game inside and out. I hope to one day be able to have those long ball times on this pin to be able to see some of those modes.

Yeah, these are the guys that designed and programmed the machine. I have played a couple dozen games on it and my game times are generally in the 3-4 minute range.

My 6 year old son is building our POTC LE ship in a bottle LEGO topper. I will add some LED lighting to it as well.

A LEGO jjPoTC wizard or hidden mode would be hilarious.
