Are WPC pop bumpers more "satisfying" than (newest) Stern pop bumpers?

I love it when the ball gets trapped in a set of pop bumpers and really flies around. As an example, I see this kind of action in both Terminator 2 and Stern Star Trek. (More discussion on pop bumpers here: http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/what-games-have-the-best-pop-bumper-action )

However, I can't escape the feeling that the WPC pop bumpers are more "satisfying" than the Stern pop bumpers. Objectively, the ball seems to fly around with equal velocity and stay in the pops for comparable amounts of time. Perhaps the cabinet vibrates more during pop bumper action in WPC. Perhaps the sound of the pops is deeper or louder in the WPC and thinner (almost quiet) in the Stern. I can't put my finger on what I like more about the pops on older machine.

Anyone else feel the same or is it just me? (Don't get me wrong - I love both games.)

When I read the wording of your post it seems like you've made up your mind. I've owned three sterns - LOTR, Ac/Dc, and STLE and 9 Bally/Williams games and think that the pops are equally satisfying, but it really makes a difference is their placement geometry. If you haven't played Ac/Dc, the pop bumpers really go nuts and shake the machine.

Not a big fan of pop bumper action either way, but Stern and WMS both have MUCH better feel than the old DE Dud-bumpers.

seems like all stern pops are in a nest that reliably feeds the ball out the same way every time... which defeats their purpose imo.
