We have Rudolph, and the Grinch,
and Grand Ma got run over by a reindeer. Anything else?
Quoted from Matesamo:In my house we watch:
A Charlie Brown Christmas
A Wish for Wings that Work
Prep & Landing
Elf Musical Cartoon
Mickeys Christmas Carol
Frosty
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Quoted from Grayman_EM:Christmassy not a cartoon but thought I would say it anyway for the old timers here as I saw it when it was on TV
Star Wars Holiday Special 1978
Oh god why would you bring that up!! Lol
Quoted from RWH:Charlie Brown's Christmas
This was a terrible omission on my part, because besides Rudolph and The Grinch, it was one of the three Christmas specials for kids that mattered when I was growing up. But it was late last night and I was only operating on three brain cells.
There are Christmas episodes of South Park, and "Spoiler Alert", Kenny never gets killed off in a Christmas episode.
Quoted from wayout440:You forgot Frosty.
No, I didn't. For me, it never quite measured up to the big three at the time.
And this Christmas special was just downright depressing. Jody from Family Affair dies? Come on man!
Quoted from Grayman_EM:See it was Buffy she has a choke hold on him!
And then she went and died of a drug overdose. So sad.
About Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.
I was two years old when Rudolph was first shown. And I vaguely remember watching it that first time and every year there after. Except the one year when I was bad and they wouldn't let me watch it!
Coincidentally my daughter was two years old when they first showed GGROBAR. So when it came on last night, I had to call her and reminisce. And that might have been part of what prompted me to start this thread. Could be, but I'm not sure I really remember starting it.
Quoted from MikeS:Not technically a cartoon but I've always enjoyed Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas.
I know I broke the rules. But I wonder why it's never on tv any more?
Another vote here for Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas. Such a classic. I think it just fell out of public consciousness because it aired on HBO in the early 80s. Who knew 2017 was the 40th anniversary? That's hard to believe.
Another classic from late 70s is Christmas Eve on Sesame Street. If Bert trading away his prized paper clip collection to buy a pink soap dish for Ernie's Rubber Duckie, and Ernie trading away his Rubber Duckie to get Bert an empty cigar box for the paper clips doesn't make you emotional, then there's something wrong with you.
This one plays an integral part of instilling the Christmas spirit in me:

Quoted from wayout440:I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Grinch. Not the movie version.
Been mentioned twice.
