One caveat is that they have, have, have to be kept in good working order, which doesn't bode well for location games / casual routers.

There was a Revenge from Mars at a local watering hole down the street from me. When it first went in, it was getting played non-stop with no ball save making money hand over fist. One day, the SOL hole start shooting it SDTM, and the owner didn't fix it for a month. I haven't seen anyone play it since.

    Quoted from asay:

There's a place called pinball gallery in Downingtown PA with 20 some pins and a few arcade games:
    http://www.pinballgallery.net/

They split the location with an ice cream shop. The place fills up for tournaments, but often I'm the only person playing otherwise...not sure how they are doing but they've been around for a couple years now. But most all the games are in great condition and it's a nice lineup. I think the owner has said he breaks even, so it's more of a hobby than a business.

Looks like he also sells machines too, so it's kind of like his playable showroom too. There's a guy in Pittsburgh who does the same thing (Pinball Perfection). It's not great money, but, if you own the building, you can definitely make it a business.
