I kind of figure they are not yet sold out, as PPS continues to add features to the LE model. I could be wrong though. Either that or it is an incentive for people to stay the course.

I don't think you're wrong.
I can believe the MMrLE pre-order spots virtually sold out. "Selling out" a refundable $1k pre-order is completely different than selling 1000 actual $8k games. Announcing the availability of the MMr "standard" at the same price point, before LE pre-orders were locked in, was just WMS/PPS shooting themselves in the foot. I can't see how now adding extra value (read: increasing BOM) to the LE is anything but a move to drive sales.

When this was announced at Expo Friday morning, they sold out in around an hour and a half.
Rick himself thought it would take 2 or 3 months.
There is no way anyone could be prepared for that. Not to mention all who would find out about it later, through
Pinside, etc.
So Rick tried to make a crazy situation better.

The 'sold out' thing is so played out it happens for every new game and manufacturer. It means quantities are sold out to distributors who then sell the games to the public.
You can still likely get one simply by contacting Automated Services guys. Will they sell out to consumers? I don't know or care as long as I get mine.
