Getting ready to restore my Gorgar cabinet. It appears to be such an easy cabinet design, needing stencils for just the white and red, over a black base. Couple questions:

For those who insist on making their own stencils: How time consuming is it? Do you have a favorite product(s) you use for tracing or contact paper? Amazon link? How do you prefer to cut them? Do you reuse them?

Several companies offer these stencils. Seems like a great time saver. Are there better stencils than others? Better low tack material? Several companies offer the Gorgar stencils. Just wondering if they all come from the same source? Anyone have strong feelings about one over the other? I have read the thread about Twisted Pins...

pinball stencils are great to work with.
Just used them on eight ball game.

see https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/bally-eight-ball-restoration-for-charity-event to see how easy it was.

So that is what Gorgar says--I always thought it was "Me eat you!".

Pinball pimp is the only way to go.

Unfortunately, not all pinball stencil sets are created equal.

Just get the Pinball Pimp stencils and be done with it. Great quality product and the best stencils, bar none, on the market today. Cutting your own stencils for EMs is pretty easy given their simplistic design, but for Bally and Williams solid state stuff, just pay the Pimp $150 for the stencil set...money well spent, and the cab will look like a million bucks.

    Jeff,

are the colors and types of paint specified in your packages? In other words, when I buy my XENON and MEDUSA stencils sets, will you give me a list of corresponding colors to use to be as close to the original product as possible?

    Thanks

I sent this to ARCANE over a month ago as a PM

Paint fades and yellows from the clearcoat so you just want to try and match as close as possible or what looks good to you. Remember, it’s going to look NEW, not old and faded so nobody will know if the color is off by a little. The factory used different shades between paint runs as well so they are not always exact either.

Here are the colors I used for both of these machines I painted and are in my gallery.

Medusa = Base cab was Rustoleum 2X "Colonial Red"
Stencil color was Krylon Dual Superbond "Gold Metallic" or any nice Rustoleum metallic GOLD would do.

Xenon = Base cab was Rustoleum PROFESSIONAL "Semi Gloss Black"
Stencil colors were Rustoleum - Original White can, Not 2X.
    "Sunrise" Red
    "Sail" Blue
