I would love to buy this as a playfield and a box of parts personally... would be fun to put it together... lots of great ideas in there, and archer is one of my favorite TV shows

#202 3 years ago

Okay that looks like more fun than Game of Thrones, and it doesn't even have any playfield art yet. Well done.

Why hasn't Stern hired this man?

#204 3 years ago

Tommy Skinner and I recorded an interview with Keith last week and we talked to him about their efforts on the Archer pin. Worth a listen.

What did you use to design the original layout?

#206 3 years ago

I don't know anything about Archer, but I really want to play it for the layout. Looks better than anything I've seen in a long time.

This thread turned me on to the show, I've been binge watching the last week or so. Love the show, looking forward to see the updates on the pin. Keep up the good work!

#214 3 years ago

Keith, I have a great (or really stupid) idea for the Archer attract mode:

Create a sequence styled like the Archer TV intro, but instead introducing you and the design crew playing pinball!

Use black silhouettes of yourselves, as they transition from one to the other. Similar to the "dot of the I" being shot around in the Archer intro, the dot would instead be a pinball being shot around to each person's name/role. The music would obviously be the same

Feel free to accept or reject it.

#215 3 years ago

I second this, killer idea

Love the new shot posted to facebook, keep up the great work.

Now that's pretty clever.

#219 3 years ago

Hell yeah! Finally a modern game that encourages shatzing.

Forgive my ignorance; what is a schatz target?

Man, Australia is ahead of the game! Now just bring that thing to some shows in the U.S. so we can all enjoy it too!

Quoted from CobraClutch:

A shatz target is referring to a target which is shot by doing a 'shatz'. Shatzing is a nickname given for the alley pass move, which is a shot from one flipper up the inlane of the opposite side.

Holy cow I was JUST going to ask if it was like the targets on Monte Carlo.

But it looks like the Archer pins' targets are a lot harder to "shatz" than they were on Monte Carlo, which must be the point!

Yes it is a bit harder but it does serve a purpose. The left outlane was too big so rather than making a huge inlane like Congo does I added the target. The game's software already recognizes alley passes (Shatzing) so it will be tied to that. Shatzpot!

and also

are we not doing phrasing anymore?!

Good point! On that machine a bad shot won't proceed round the corner to the outlane though.
Loving the progress on Archer, watching with great enthusiasm.

Why is this not for sale?!?! It's better than anything I've seen from Stern.

The majority of the homebrew projects on here all fit that description I think.. Pretty amazing stuff! But actually obtaining these licenses and manufacturing them (assuming any of these builders wanted or had time and money to pursue) is such a different beast altogether to approach.

Too bad.. Although I like the idea of one-offs. I'm not impressed with anything I see stern putting out lately but I give it to them for staying alive and putting a lot of games out. I think if they cut back quantity maybe quality could go up but there's still that bottom line.. Timelines and price points are probably killing some cool ideas and innovations there.

Keep up the awesome work skate-- love seeing the progress!!

There's always something 'new" to learn in pinball.

Well... he's in California and so am I.

If I have to I'm going to camp out in front of his house until he builds me one just to get rid of me.

#237 3 years ago

Ok I can't get over how awesome this is. I don't even understand how a home brew is this good.

As a giant Archer fan some things I want to throw in:

Before you criticize, remember, you're not my supervisor!

Danger Zone references are important. Whether for tilt, or whatever, DANGER ZONE!

Anyone remember Space Bot? Needs more Space Bot. Maybe as a toy or whatever.

Something to reference Skytanic. Anything.

And although I'm not a big fan of Archer Vice we can't pretend it just didn't happen. Cocaine must be included. I'm not saying do rails off the glass or anything but something funny on the board referencing this major Archer arc would be great.

If none of this happens that's fine too but I mean there is just so much Archer stuff to pack in.

I swear to god I had something for this.

Every time I see an Atari game, I'm reminded how awesome their art is.

This Archer game is going to be the ultimate players game. Shatz shots, bi-directional upper loops, see-saw loops, newton lock\unlock shots... amazing.

#242 3 years ago

So I saw someone online post a comment online about this project, saying that it looks cool.

Then there was a huge onslaught of negative comments about how the person doing this has no life and should be doing better things than working on a pinball machine for himself.

I say screw them. People only posting negative comments online for a living have no life and should be doing better things than that. I love the project so far and I can't wait to see if it ever becomes physically manufactured!

#243 3 years ago

Or is it an idea that's 55 years old?

Just kidding, no shatz in there

What a bunch of losers. How little life do you have to have to make yourself feel better by putting other people down like that?

#245 3 years ago

The only way to play it safe for social media dwellers is to never try to accomplish anything and make fun of people who do and fail, or even succeed for that matter.
A sad life it is.

Great project.

Seriously. Why haven't the big boys done anything like this?

I'm in love. Even without the awesome theme this table would be absurdly good.
