If you got to sell Attack From Mars, let me know. I’ve been looking for one

Quoted from Viggin900:Sounds like this thing is a waist of money. Better off spending it on a true Virtual cab that has 600+ games in 4k with all the force feedback. I'm having a blast trying to get through them all. Unfortunately these manufactures are ruining the experience for many to make a buck when Virtual will take over in 5 years. Its a failed attempt at pinball by people who no little about it.
Disagree. While it’s not real pinball, it is still a lot of fun. I can’t afford to have a real Medieval Madness or Attack From Mars. There is also nowhere near me to play and enjoy these games. For $600 I can have them both and at least make the best of it. We have the Marvel virtual pin already and the AFM will be here this week. While not my go to, they serve a purpose and really are fun to play. They do have some lag but you get used to it pretty quick.
It’s here... I’ll post a YouTube video review later this evening. I’ve already got the Marvel version which is cool but the fact that I can play some real games is what drew me to this one.

White Water is unplayable due to lag, but honestly, the rest of the games were fine. The build quality surpassed my expectations by a long margin - feels solid & looks amazing.
The four solenoids do an admirable job & add to the ‘realism’. The 23.8” playfield sounds like it would be too small, but again, it looks bigger than that when playing on it.
If the screen was 1080p & this was upgradable (to add more games), then I would’ve scored it 9/10. As it is, it’s a solid 7.5/10.
PS: I’ve reached out to their PR/Marketing team regarding future upgrades/features & fixes like fixing White Water via a patch, internet connectivity & being able to purchase / add more content (sussing out if they are planning an App Store setup to buy more content). No reply so far.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
I also noticed that WhiteWater is unplayable. The rest aren’t to bad and are very playable
Quoted from arcademojo:The ghost nudge is fixed by resetting the connection on the one board. Sorry forget the name of it though.
Are you saying to open up the cabinet and re seat all of the connections? If so, that’s easy enough
I’m curious if one could upgrade the brain to raspberry pi, upgraded buttons, and a powered sub and really bring them to life. I think the screen is 1080p but the hardware doesn’t support it. Be cool to download all of the Zen games on a better unit
Quoted from LilRocky:Messing with the machine a lot more, I think the sound I’m hearing is their imitation of what it sounds like for a flipper to disengage.... anyways, luckily this can be muted through the physics volume adjustment.
On another note, I added images of the dmd display, as my earlier post mentioned it looking blocky in segments. On closer inspection you would think I had a vertical and horizontal line going out on my dmd, but being this is just a small monitor, not really sure what’s going on here.

That’s how the DMD is. I have the AFM and the Marvel 1up games and they are both the same in that aspect
Quoted from NC_Pin:I just don’t think there is a way to patch it. It doesn’t have a WiFi connection, and i didn’t see any type of port that could be used to update the software. Also... to my knowledge.... Arcade1up has never issued a software update for any game they have sold. I could be wrong... but I don’t know of any.
I think any fix will require some sort of firmware add on... and I think that is pretty unlikely.
I would say 1up’s stance is what it is and they have no intentions of updating it. They gave us a pretty cool platform that can be modded fairly easily. I believe the display is 1080p but the computer hardware only supports 720p. If someone could figure out how to get a PC or Rasberry Pi in it and hooked up I bet it would be pretty amazing
Quoted from NC_Pin:Ahhh ok... I have an NBA Jam. I need to look into that.
Great! They are looking into it. If they are able to make it work as intended I think these machines could be pretty valuable in the future. Even with the flaws I am planning on keeping mine.
I submitted a ticket as well. We have both Marvel and AFM. While the Marvel machine has some lag, the AFM is much worse. Hopefully they can get these dialed in a little better and really have something cool
I spent a little time playing both my Arcade 1up Marvel and Attack From Mars games side by side tonight. From a depth standpoint and gameplay standpoint, the Marvel games trump the Williams games on the AFM. Marvel has less lag, smoother animation, deeper rule sets, and it definitely benefits from all of its games being designed as digital games. The AFM game is fun but as a few of us have mentioned before, Whitewater is unplayable. I emailed A1up about it and there response was to turn off ball trails and added animations. I did both and it’s still unplayable. The rest of the games play well with just a touch of lag but they are easy enough to adapt to. Zen and A1up did the best they could recreating the classic Williams games to a 2D screen and keeping things to a budget but it takes a minute to get used real games that have depth being displayed on a flat plane.
All in all I don’t regret either purchase. They don’t hold a candle to my Metallica Pro but I can’t afford a real MM or AFM so having them both on a digital platform is pretty cool. Is there room for improvement, sure. Is $600 a decent price for these? You bet.
