Hi folks
I have been looking for a replacement crt arcade monitor for my neo geo. there are about 8 monitors for sale from a bowling alley that shut down. The size of my neo geo monitor is the same as the bowling alley ones. I just want to make sure there is nothing special about bowling alley monitors. There are pics of them on kijiji Ontario crt monitor
Thanks!

my Neo Geo does have the isolation transformer
trying to check the model number but the person selling is not at the bowling alley
I was told there are 4 working, ..was told "the screen has shrunk on 2 of them" ..probably just needs adjusting?
for 50 bucks, might be worth the 1-1/2 hr drive.

going to try calling the bowling alley again and ask for the model..
I also thought of the fact the bowling alley would have these monitors on for extended periods of time..ill ask burn in question as well

Yes , I just realized that...that's what I thought. (Tv s that are also for sale) ..ill ask again

That's pretty damn impressive you could identify those monitors

#19 4 years ago

Just told this is the info off the back of the monitor. Didn't want to keep pushing and mention, to my knowledge, RCA never made arcade monitors. Was given another number..25K5506 apparently off the chassis

All the pins are present , none broken just bent

Ok...can I fire up the monitor ( test) before I begin to re-seat?

#31 4 years ago

Reseated the pins and fired up the game. Some success but how do I fix the verticle lines?

Awesome! Thanks a lot!

I texted my neighbour to come over to help me fine tune the monitor. I'm thrilled you folks helped me breathe new life into my monitor. Is there some sort of adhesive I can use to secure the neck board? Cactus Jack: without your advice, I would of turned on the monitor without the pins seated. Got to love the Internet.

Why does it take 20 minutes before the monitor brightens properly? Can this be fixed?

Good stuff. Shut her down for the night and will take some more pics tomorrow.

#53 4 years ago

I will check out the video for sure.
Been looking at some convergence repair videos. Mark the fin position, loosen and adjust accordingly...

#54 4 years ago

Are there any components that would really benefit from a que tip and electronics cleaner spray?

#57 4 years ago

I can't wait to get home from work to work on it! I thought it was pooched

#58 4 years ago

Didn't think of that Jack...thank's

#59 4 years ago

Once this is complete...on to the re-capping. Also bought some rubber gloves.

What kind of silicone should I buy?

#62 4 years ago

Adjusting with success...
The monitor is starting with much faster, almost instant brightness. I messed a little too much and have blue slightly off.

Like you said Jack, won't be perfect and I'm already very happy with the results so far. No capping needed for now. Will de-gausing also improve the image? Should I even bother at this point?

#65 4 years ago

Excellent! thanks again to everyone. Arcade is in place and good to go!

#67 4 years ago

off on vacation starting tomorrow so I will be taking the time to fine tune and apply the silicone. I did notice when I turn the machine on with a cold start, red seems to take a minute before it comes on.

My cabinet has a "trace light" for the 6 slot marquees...can I jump a wire over the rust marks or is there a trace solder available? Only 1 square lights up. I'll post pics after work.

#71 4 years ago

There is a place not far from me that supposedly sells the actual filament (sayal is the name of the franchise store) used to repair the traces. this I have got to see and try.
