Not really unusual actually, things warm up, old dried out caps get their act together finally etc. I highly doubt it's the flyback, cap kit would definitely be the first order of business.

Worth it? In what sense? It will look awful and people who enjoy old games will hate it and privately think you're some kind of monster.
