Can you get the control panel to fold open to look at the bottom of the joystick? It probably has two or three locking hasps that are just like the newer Stern lockdown bar ones that you can fold up/unlock through the coin door to open the control panel.

It's probably something simple as one of the microswitches needing adjusted or replaced so no need to drop $60 just yet.
