Nice that they don't overlap this year - should be better for both!

If you can pass as a 6 year old, it’s a real good deal
Anyone know if there will be any discounted CGC games, JJP, or stern games for sale from any of the local distributors?
Well you can play as much pinball as you possibly can play from a menu of 500 or more machines, plus you can head over and have your fill of classic arcade games. So I think its a good deal, depending on how many games you can get in. When I first went my goal was to play every pinball machine, yeah no, that's not gonna happen Then my goal was to play 100 machines on one visit. I made it to about 80 (usually multiple games per machine). At that point, my eyeballs were bleeding and I was close to a seizure. The bottom line is that if you like pinball, how can you miss? It is mind-bogglingly awesome. And if you like arcade games as well, then that's a bonus for even more fun.
I’m going at least one day but not sure which one. Maybe a list of vendors could help us prepare for what’s to be expected. Should be fun hopefully they will have a Munsters prem. or LE and maybe Oktoberfest to play.

We are working with Marco for Stern show games. What are you looking for and we will order it?
Thank you

Ouch! I've never actually paid for a show, since I always bring games, so there's a little sticker shock here. I had to go look at my GSPF poster to see what a 3day pass was last year: fitty dollah. Cheaper than a Saturday only here. Hmmm... Still...

We still get complaints about that.

2018 & 2017 prices below look to been the same per some Googling so a little bit of a bump in 2019 for adults and savings for the kids.
Friday-Only (2:30 p.m. to Midnight): $45
Saturday-Only (11 a.m. to 2 a.m.): $55
Sunday-Only (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.): $45
Adult 3-Day Pass: $120
Child Day Pass: $25
Child 3-Day Pass: $55
I never realized but comparing 3 day tickets their prices are quite a bit higher than Texas Pinball Festival ($60), CAX ($60), Pin-A-Go-Go ($20), Southern Fried ($60) & NW Pinball Show ($65). I know they did a Groupon their first year (maybe second too) that bought prices back in line with the others, but I don't think that is normal thing.
I will say though, not being in a major city like the others does tend to lead to less crowds which allows for more time on games IMO and all the machines played amazing last time I attended which can't always be said for some of the others.

For me, it’s high enough that I will only go if I can spend most of the day there. With kids, it doesn’t really work out for me to be there the whole day, so I have passed on the last couple of events even though it’s only a little over an hour away.
Data point: I am a cheap bastard.
I'm surprised that the cost of doing business, plus California income, along with the Riverside COuNty taxes don't make the ticket prices higher.
I'm planning on attending with my son @edawgg5. Unfortunately he has college classes on Friday, and a final on Monday, so we'll have to ante up to the $65 Saturday. This will be our second time visiting the museum, having gone to Pinvasion a month ago. I want to give a mention to a tech named 'Ian' who helped us out with the Alien machine and gave us some background information which made playing it more fun. Hope to see some of you there
Well it looks like I won't be prowling the floor this year fixing machines. My schedule won't allow me to get out that weekend.
Bummer... It is always fun.
I am looking forward to Saturday. Wanted to be there all weekend, but one day is what I can do at this time. See you on Saturday!
So MOP might not offer free entry for bring a machine, but you can get free entry by volunteering. I am pretty sure we have our quota of volunteers but I can ask. PM me if intrested.
Don't want to be too critical, as I have really enjoyed their events, BUT:
I hope they are improving the parking space: it was seriously inadequate for their previous event (INDISC "festival). And they should have a lot more space available for use on their grounds . . . .
Their food concessions continue to earn a generous grade of "D." Barely lowest common denominator, very limited choices, literally nothing of interest to me. (If you have any dietary restrictions to speak of, you are majorly out of luck !) Really and truly, they could make much better arrangements. The one semi-exception I can recall was at Expo 3, when they had that Mexican food truck from Malibu. Otherwise, you have to go off-site.
If they want to step up and fulfill the great potential, they really need to address these things. (Museum of Pinball: Is anyone listening ??)
I love all types of shows. I like that banning does not empty at noon on Sunday. Meaning the games stay instead of being brought and taken away like other shows.
Before my injuries I liked all three days at banning. I also enjoy volunteering it is fun.
I also love golden state pinball that is heaven too.
Blah blah blah I’ll see you on saturday!
If you are reading this you need to attend both if possible. Seriously.

Great ideas, parking is gonna be an issue until the owner buys a empty lot around the MOP. That could cost Millions, since the city would require it to be up to code. You know how that goes, they want in on everything. On Top of the parking issue, we have a building issue. We are out of room. (I say "we" because I am one of the volunteer techs that put in 20+ days a year at the MOP)
The food truck idea is a great idea. I will pass it on to the owner. Hes a cool guy open to suggestions. I also thinks this needs to addressed. And food trucks are the answer. Its simple, cost free to the MOP, and fun for everyone. We have a back lot that would be perfect for it. I wonder if its because its so far from the real world that there are no trucks willing to drive out?

Sunday at the Expo is awesome, especially later in the day/evening. Its empty.
GSPF is such a different vibe. Last year was my 1st time attending and loved the comradery. The stories behind the machines and the camping make this a new tradition for a few of us that volunteer at MOP.
The two shows are a treasure for me. Both indispensable.
I hope to volunteer again at mop. I know I will, it's just my health.
I'm sure I will be able to do a lot of volunteering in 2020. This will be at mop banning.
But I won't miss g p s f either. Life can be good.
Love this hobby it is in my blood now...

How long of a lease was written for the other 2/3's of the building? That's the answer to your space problem.

He owns the whole complex. Its actually an old aerospace manufacturing facility that closed decades ago. Its pretty cool as a whole. There was a daycare center on the East side of the property with a giant park. The buildings in between are used for the owners "actual business". That business is what supports his hobby. If you look at the parking within the main gate, thats actually airplane parking. Supposedly the old owners would fly into Banning airport and at the end of the runway there is a gate that allows the plane to cross the street to the property.
The "real" entrance on the north side is very mid century modern, which is very uncommon for a manufacturing facility. But out here it fits right in with the Palm Springs MCM vibe.
I am heading there right now for a few hours of pin repairs. We have a few still in the "coming soon" area I would love to see on the floor by next week.

It was formerly Deutsch Electronics.

I always get there early and park on the street right in front, easy getaway later. This place is in the middle of freakin nowhere, the worst case is that you might have to park on the street around the corner a bit, but there is plenty of space and its not a long walk. Sometimes I pack my own food, but I have eaten the stuff there and it is generally OK. But, correct, not a lot of choices for those with specialized dietary needs.
Another thing I have learned - pop a battery pack or two in your pocket for your phone. The reception inside isn't great, and if you are using for phone for taking pictures, videos, posting on social media and such it will drain down fast. Then you are stuck with no phone or going back out to plug it into the car for a while. When it gets low I just plug it into the battery pack and set it on a machine while I am playing.
You know what you CAN do?? Have fun and play pinball! I mean, its freakin ridiculous, this isn't even a third of it!
Quoted from girloveswaffles:It was formerly Deutsch Electronics.
I used a lot of Deutsch brand connectors in my old job. I'll bet some came from that plant.

Really, thats pretty cool. I am gonna try and find a old logo to do some vintage tees for the regulars at the MOP.
Looking to pick up a Guardians Galaxy Premium at the show. Are there any vendors that I could contact to set this up?

Your late to the party.
Orders for demo games had to be placed by Feb 21 at Marcos.

I think that the Boss Hog Food Truck would suit the needs of the masses. problem is, the boss hog only comes out once or twice per year. i heard he's like the groundhog.
Quoted from PinBallPeteFromSD:Sunday at the Expo is awesome, especially later in the day/evening. Its empty.
I want to come either Friday or Sunday this year (previously Saturday attendee). I already booked the time off Friday, but weighing the fact that it doesn't open till 2:30 on Friday (so driving home at night) vs Sunday where I was thinking % working games would be down significantly after the mass amount of people. What was your experience on that front?
i seem to last 4-5 hours before my eyes are fried
Quoted from girloveswaffles:Will you also be involved with WonderCon and SDCC this year?
Yes we have games to bring to WonderCon
I go there every chance I get, will definitely be there Friday and Saturday. Absolutely epic place, love it! I've personally never had any issue with parking, there is tons of space on the street to park. The food situation could be improved though. Right now it's very limited selection and you have to go buy tokens, then redeem those for food. Wish there were just a couple of food trucks I could walk up to, get what I want and pay with a credit card.

Yes and double Yes!! I concur that the ticket system sucks. If I’m off by one ticket, I have to go to another line to “exchange” my cash for tickets... then get back in the original line for food that I wanted to order. Waste of my time. A couple food trucks with credit card will streamline this design flaw. Hopefully, next year will be a change to this... but how many years has this ticket system for food has been in place already??
Anyone bringing any games to sell at the swap meet? We have room in the truck seems a waste to come back empty.

Does the actual business have anything to do with those "Phantom Fireworks" sheds ? (If so, I had thought that fireworks was pretty much a shut down biz for much of Calif., but maybe the desert counties are an exception ?) Next question: are all those scattered other buildings on the premises in some sort of use ? Or are some of them vacant and serving no present (or planned) purpose ? Any such could be turned into additional parking lot space. See, here's the thing: if you're driving a nicer, newer vehicle you may not want to leave it a couple blocks away outside on the street . . . . That could become a real disincentive for me.
Quoted from Cheddar:Anyone bringing any games to sell at the swap meet? We have room in the truck seems a waste to come back empty.
I can't make it to the show this year, but if you want to swing through Tehachapi on your way home, I have a Millionaire I will sell you.
Quoted from Cheddar:Anyone bringing any games to sell at the swap meet? We have room in the truck seems a waste to come back empty.
My truck is acting up so not taking anything to the swap meet but I have a Pinbot in Pasadena (PiP!) looking for a home.
