    Quoted from Hop-Pac:

Like zombywoof said. The spinner is complete trash. Out of the box, mine barely turned and didn't even register in the game. I ordered an aftermarket one and it spins for days.
The game plays fine, just plan to replace the spinner right out of the box.

So the spinner is still crap on this new model, using switches??? I had picked up the old 12-in-1 and replaced it with the version you can find on Amazon (I think the spinner and board were around 30-40 back then?), and it plays loads better. I also replaced the trackball with an LED one, but found it to be VERY sensitive in relation to the stock one.

This spinner issue has me concerned on TRON now if the new tempest cab is still using the spinner type from the old runs.

    Quoted from nicoga3000:

I'm thinking about this one + the Atari Legacy cab. It's easy to build a MAME for traditional games, but spinners and trackballs feel like more work than they're worth.

They are SUPER easy to install and are plug-and-play, so I wouldn't let that deter you unless the extra cost is your concern. I really only think the spinner is a necessary upgrade, as the trackball on the old 12-in-1 and GT are not THAT bad. Can't speak for the newer tempest 12-in-1, though.

I meant more that building out my MAME system with a trackball and spinner is a lot of work. Getting it calibrated right is frustrating. That's why I want to grab the A1UP cabs with those on them since they should work mostly fine out of the box.

I didn't really play arcade games much back in the day, I was too cheap. I did play Tron with my girlfriend at the time, whenever we came across one. I like the look of the cabinet but with the Mandalorian premium on the way, I don't know if my better half is going to go for it.

    Quoted from Mudflaps:

I preordered this one early from Target. The 5% credit card discount and 10% coupon eased the sting.
I have Star Wars (paid full price), Pac-Man and Asteroids (heavily discounted). I enjoy Arcade1up games because they’re user friendly for guests and super light to move.
MAME scratches the multicade itch, but these are great as decor and casual experiences.

I scratched my multicade itch by building a MAME PC, but used a 4K TV on a custom rotating mount. This allows me to play vertical monitor games and pins, but rotate for horizontal monitor games. Works like a champ and doesn’t require a dedicated cab - it just sucks for Tron/DoT.

Have the recent Arcade1Up titles all gone the Walmart clearance route? Or is it only sports games like NBA Jam that go that way anymore?

I've kept my eye out for deals and haven't found any. In store and online.

That’s cool! I have a MAME cab and PC running Big Box with Sinden light guns. Even making it as simple and intuitive as possible (with easy instructions!), the kids gravitate to the sit down racer or Arcade1up machines.

Ok couldn’t stand it and bit the bullet. Ordered today. Fyi…A1up will allow you to pay in 4 pymt installments spread across 2 mos. No interest and no fees.

    #61 2 years ago
    Quoted from CaptainNeo:

spinner very well could be push pull type. They did a great job with the SW yoke, I don't see why they would skimp here either. Especially since the price is almost double.

I hope you are right; but, the photos thus far don't show much of a gap between the spinner and the control panel overlay. On my real DoT panel spinner and the Mame reproduction, there is a much larger gap as the push/pull needs a relatively big throw.

The SW yoke is very good. I actually ordered a spare just in case.

That Discs of Tron cabinet is massive. Looks like you could nearly fit those three Tron cabinets in the same volume.

    #63 2 years ago

Arcade1up's website is now showing the pre-orders from them as sold out.

    #64 2 years ago

That sucks. Guess I got one of the last preorders today from A1up. Believe you can still order from Best Buy and Walmart.

    #65 2 years ago

no black light just a purple bulb,(hopefully an easy fix) no coin door sticker like all the others had.

    #66 2 years ago

Where is the purple light/no black light info coming from? The very first spec listed is:

“ Responsive ink on control deck and screen adjacent inner side panels, illuminated by included black light under marquee.”

    #67 2 years ago

I have an original Tron arcade, and will try and get this mainly for Discs of Tron

That’s a review from someone looking at the pictures. Black lights don’t photograph well in full light, so I’m sure they just made it look more purple-ish in the pics. And I’ll bet they will include stickers to cover the bolt holes. My guess is the coin door sticker will be included too - this was just a prelim promo pic.

More than anything the reviewer just seems annoyed about the price. Which I agree, the price jump sucks but it’s happening to all goods right now.

Anyone have a good Best Buy coupon code

    #71 2 years ago

This sold out quickly. Looks like Best Buy is only company that has any left. I just grabbed one.

    #72 2 years ago

How well are Arcade 1ups built? All particle board?

Looks like Walmart still has them, with an earlier delivery date.

    #74 2 years ago

If they could only make Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator using a chair that hooks up to a TV!

    #75 2 years ago

Walmart is now sold out. Just ordered mine from Best Buy, got 10% off for a birthday discount (birthday was on the 3rd) and another $5 for some other coupon.

    3 weeks later
    #76 2 years ago

Mine just shipped from Target, should be here next week. I didn’t think these would go out for another month, so early surprise for me.

Nice, ordered direct from Arcade 1up. I've heard nothing.

I just got notice from Walmart mine shipped today and says i will get Wednesday

Same. I ordered X-men from Target and it showed up pretty quick. Probably just order through Target from now on.

    #80 2 years ago

Just got FEDEX notice that mine arrives tomorrow. I have 4 other A1UPs and enjoy them...they are smaller than actual arcade games but big enough to feel real and it's actually nice they are easy to move around and don't hog the whole basement. Excited for Tron to fit next to my pin.

    #81 2 years ago

Mine showing tomorrow as well straight from A1up.

    #82 2 years ago

Mine is supposed to be here sometime today. I had an original upright DOT years ago and sold it. Can't wait to play. It's my first 1up.

    #83 2 years ago

Arriving Friday. I ordered direct from Arcade 1up.

    #84 2 years ago

Ordered mine from Wal-Mart. Won't get here until Monday, but excited to see everyone's builds and comments.

    #85 2 years ago

Mine got hung up in MN so not delivering until Thanksgiving day now

Thinking about upgrading to a much larger monitor.

    #86 2 years ago

    Monday delivery from MN.

I agree, would love to hear everyone's build comments and suggestions.

    It's my first 1up.

    My first too!. Excited.

    Quoted from Frax:

700 bucks.... guess I'll just save up for a real one at that price. Jesus christ.

tron is 3000 dot is 5000 so its still a bargain

    #88 2 years ago

Mine is suppose to be delivered today. Definitely one of my favorite arcade games back in the day. Hope it plays good. Now I have to try and remember the light cycle patterns.

    #89 2 years ago

Mine was delayed and won’t get it till Friday. For those of you who got theirs already, how does it play?

Mine is coming today. I am interested in play as well. So far I have just heard the fire button is a little slow and the spinner is not all that great. There is a gameplay review on youtube now.

I really like it! People are complaining about the spinner, and yeah, it’s no tornado spinner that goes for minutes, but it does its job in the game just fine. The trigger on the handle is really stiff and clicky, but I’m fine with it. People also say the shooting is slow, but it seems good to me, although I’m no pro at the game. Man, though, the art pops like crazy with the blacklight and no photos do it justice.

***On a big note when you first turn it on, the color changing light on the bottom of the screen may not turn on with its button press. I thought it was broke and was about to shoot A1Up an Email, but my daughter turns the machine back on to play and it does an update, and now the light works and cycles colors with each press.

It is getting more and more positive reviews as people get them assembled and play it. I think most the negative are people who have never even touched it. For less than $800 we have Tron and DOT and have options for larger screen, upgraded spinner and trigger if we want.

    Quoted from pcprogrammer:

Yes just particle board and inner plastic corner brackets. Non lighted marquees put a damper on the early ones.
I still have the Rampage/joust cab from when they first came out, kids didn't buy into it, never got used.

The price was low and all anyone did was complain about the low quality parts, mainly the joysticks. Spinner is for sure garbage on the Tempest, but a guy named Glen makes good aftermarket stuff. They increased quality and everyone now complains about the price hike. Not sure what the happy medium is lol.

The cab size is short to keep shipping costs low and to upcharge on the risers.

    #94 2 years ago

Just to point out on the TRON. The spinner is a push/pull spinner.
Really want o get this game soon but spent my extra cash on Color DMD's and just ordered the Funhouse 2.0 kit. So have keep money available for that.
ALso wanted ta say. I've owned many real video games but with pins taking up all my space. These 1ups are great for their size. Yeah, just like everything else prices are getting higher on them but still worth it.

    #95 2 years ago

Just got ours together and love it. Next to Star Wars and hopefully Dragon’s Lair when they release it.

Tron is very tall. With the riser it is taller than big buck hunter. Lighted marquee, push pull spinner, etc.. it is worth $700. Plays good, looks good, and takes up small footprint.

Can anyone confirm does the 1up D.O.T. have the same speech as the commercial E.D.O.T.?

    #98 2 years ago
    Quoted from Morgoth00:

The cab size is short to keep shipping costs low and to upcharge on the risers.

They have to keep these at a certain height to still consider them a toy and not a commercial product. They sell the riser, because in the beginning every adult was complaining about having to stand on their knees to play these machines. They get away with making these much taller by using the riser and still keeping the 4 foot cabinet height.

The original Tron joystick was a four-way/8 way very specialized to play the light cycles and be able to have the diagonal ability to play the other games in Tron

The push pull spinner and the thumb button on the joystick is a must for DOT.

If any of these elements are missing from this machine, neither game will work very well. I hope everyone who buys one of these doesn’t have to spend too much on mods to make the game worthwhile
