It appears as if your crowd source was a scam to some of us. To purchase games and brag about it so soon after your incident looks bad. Show 660 dollars worth of flood-control improvements to alleviate future problems to those who donated. Return money to those who complain so you are redeemed.
This doesn't sound like an apology, more doubling down.
Some time after the flood and donations, I worked hard and had a surprisingly good late April (earning above four digits), so I decided to portion a very small amount (much less than I received in donations) of what I earned to put towards Pinfest since the repairs are already being committed to/paid for and any extra wouldn't do any good for the cause anymore. (I removed the PayPal e-mail a few weeks ago as well to reflect this even before that point)
That being said, the extra amount of money I made two weeks ago or so came much too late to do any good compared to the donations and money I earned earlier in the month (and at the time of the leak I had $0) - the donations were needed much sooner and that was the point of asking (the suddenness of the situation - I couldn't work that fast), not to make claims that I'll be poor forever or didn't have the ability to contribute to my own cause, the point was the suddenness. (and the REAL point was the manual labor help, which didn't really work out but boob's escalera solved that problem)
I've already made a few solid attempts to pay it forward (both in monetary, physical, and kind ways) and will continue to do so!
It's rough man. I think you learned a few valuable lessons. I can think of at least three.
1) Don't joke about peoples wives or kids. Or dogs for that matter.
2) NOTHING is free. I'm sure you've figured out by now that anytime you ever brag about a new pinball machine you bought, anybody who sent you money to "fix your basement" (lulz) is gonna get butthurt. I can't imagine that was worth $660.
3) apologies don't come with conditions. If you are really sorry about something you just say "I'm sorry" and leave It at that. If you don't, it's not going to sound like an apology at all.
Nobody forced anybody to send you money is all I can say. But this is gonna follow you around for a while. You might consider sending people their money back or at least offering to. My bet is most won't take it back, and then you'll be free from this and can proudly post pictures of your new games without fear of snark.
And team one? Hope you enjoy it, I just sold one today. Not my cup of tea really I find it way too easy. But it's a nice game in a big collections, kid friendly and the novelty play option is kind of interesting (that's how you can see those 100,000 to 1,000,000 lites in action)
A non-apology apology ? That's what we hear from Politicians, Celebrities and Garbage television.
People will have a hard time understanding game purchases after asking for monetary donations for something else in such short order. No matter whatever attempts to explain it are made........
The EM Help Guide is a nice idea. Maybe a how to fix your sump pump thread would be welcome by many too.
Well what else is there to say? Your "apology" thread barely beats out the worst one of all times. Real shit show job chief.
Hmmm....flooded basements eh?

My first thought if I earned extra money shortly after getting donations would be to offer to pay the money back to the donators instead of buying a new pinball machine.

Very Strange Drama in Feelarama............
Maybe I will stick around and see if it ends rather than how it ends...............
Quoted from newmantjn:Give the kid a break. He's only nineteen. It says so right at the end of the "ultimate" EM guide.
Depends on the situation. Sometimes you don't want to give a kid a break so that he/she actually learns something...
