You can be a purist and still like LEDs.........
In the games that were designed with their use in mind. I don't fault anyone who wants to put LEDs in their old games, it's just not for me. It really clashes with the color selection on most older games that were designed to be lit by those warm incandescents. I think the newer Sterns that are shipping with LEDs look great with them and would probably look sorry if lit with incandescent bulbs.
I know that's crazy talk, but that's just my $0.02. I'll be in the corner with my tin foil hat if anyone needs me.
