My best guess would be a very thick chunk of Ballistic Plate in that area.

I feel like they gotta be something important to the build though. Other games don't have those...and in this case there's actually art on the TOP! So why would you ruin the art by placing screws all over it, unless it had a really good reason that we are not seeing yet.
Maybe there's extra stability inside for the turret when it's hanging off the back?

It was a blast... but nerve wracking hoping it wasn't a sell out before you got in the door.
There were some near Riots when New Employees didn't know the Drill... not opening the doors up early or handing out wristbands in time.
No American pinball has their power switch where it should be and always was - under the game within easy reach .

When out in the showroom, there came such a roar
A FREAKING TANK entered and drove down the floor
With a little old driver, pulling out all the tricks
I knew in a moment he must be DAVID FIX!
His voice bursted out now: "YOU PLAY MY NEW GAME!"
He whistled and called out the features by name:
Now "Space Tanks," now "Sundaes," now "Super late gameplay revealing!"
On, "Cameras that only point right at the ceiling!"
Then he pressed both the flippers, the tank head would rise
And guess what all you doubters? The game magnetized!
Yes the bash toy in the center wouldn't just block the ball
But it flew though the coin door, targets and all
The term Galactic Tank Force wasn't just a creation
It was a sentient being, of pure innovation!
(With pricing to cure all the talk of "pinflation")
David sprang to his tank, to his team gave a "YUP!"
And Ryan McQuaid and co, packed the game up
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Tank-mas to all, and to all a good-night!"

The tank cab is their Signature and Limited Edition models. The Deluxe and Classic cabs are a completely different beast. Wait until you see the Deluxe and Classic Editions. They look amazing and the artwork is fantastic...
