I'm a big fan of Pinbot,it's what hooked me on pinball when I was a kid.I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on Jackbot.
I've played it a few times and like it but some people Really Dislike it.Is it because its a remake playfield?

It's one of the best games ever made with great rules, great sound, great dots, and of course a fun layout. Pinbot massively pales in comparison. Pull the trigger with confidence!
I love PinBot, but when I played JackBot...meh.
It was just the one time, and admittedly not played extensively, so maybe I could like it more then I do. I also don't like any gambling themed pinballs, so there's that- just feels like a mixed metaphor. Yes, I know how capricious this is.
I just kept thinking...why did they do this? (I know...to make money, but...) Why?
It's love/hate. You REALLY need to play one, because it's almost like a completely different game despite the playfield being very similar. Rules aren't even remotely the same.
It's a total bitch... but I really enjoy playing it.
I've been looking for one for a while but they don't come up for sale too much. A great game to buy if you find one, though.
It's the best of the 'Bots, and one of the best WPC games, IMO. It's one you really have to know the rules for, otherwise it won't seem like you're doing much.
It's my favorite game.......its been my favorite for years. I love the theme (robots and casino mixed in space), I love the smooth jazz sax music, and I love the classic Pinbot layout. Not the deepest in rules, but a very enjoyable game. One of the few games bolted to my floor (RBION, Avatar, and Tron LE are the others bolted)
It really is a fun game, but I don't gamble in real life and equally hate gambling hard earned points.
Quoted from TurboBengal:It really is a fun game, but I don't gamble in real life and equally hate gambling hard earned points.
If your kickouts are adjusted correctly, there's really not a lot of risk to "gambling" for the extra points, and the first time before Casino Run, you're also re-qualifying the mode start without a semi-dangerous ramp shot that potentially ends up in the extremely dangerous pop bumpers..
Quoted from Frax:ends up in the extremely dangerous pop bumpers.
They are brutal...throws that ball right down the left side drain
I owned a Jack*bot for several years but had to sell to make some room. It is a fun game, and has some nice sound and light shows. The gameplay seemed (to me) to just lack something, shots or features. It is very easy to get into two ball and three ball multi-ball, but ball times can be short because of the somewhat brutal outlanes, ball collisions, etc. Controlled play is very important during multi-ball to rack up the superjackbot shots.
Quoted from Max_Badazz:They are brutal...throws that ball right down the left side drain
Yep... pops and slings both. Mine has the outlanes all the way open, superbands on the flippers, and a pretty tight tilt, so I feel the pain, LOL. I actually managed to get double casino run on mine at our last league night, set a new GC score, think it was around 7.3 billion. Going to be extremely hard to beat that, as I'm running what might be the first code release.... you can't bop out bombs in casino run at all. You occasionally get a water bucket that will extinguish a bomb, but it's complete and total random chance...
I've said it before and i reiterate, I LOVED my Jackbot and regret selling it
It was a need for cash at the time but on hindsight i wish i had kept the machine (which was in good nick too). I've never owned a Pinbot (played one, but not quite the same) and i do think that Jackbot is a better machine based on that meager input. I have to say that i prefer BOP at the end of the day, but the Jackbot i owned was a snappy machine, fast play, good audio, decent rule set and Not easy to get Mega Visor consistently. If you get the chance to buy one at a nice price, Go FOR IT, what the hell, if you don't like it, sell it on, but betcha you'll warm to the machine FAST
Played it the first time in competition at PAPA and rocked it. Really LOVED that machine. Congrats on the purchase...and let me know if you want to sell it!
I think the Pinbot layout is pretty average with a limited number of shots. But somehow the jackbot software does an amazing job of making all this incredibly fun. It's the ultimate in risk / reward play. I really like the game and I dislike Pinbot.

I don't consider it gambling since there's a decent degree of skill involved. It's not luck like a casino game with dice or something.
Jackbot is a fun game, but becomes stale after a while, not to many shots to go for, has good lighting and sound.
Quoted from Elevatorman:Here's my new Jackbot.I'll post some better pics after I get it set up.
Thanks for all the great opinions and info everyone.
Nice! I think you will like it.
Make sure to use the cheat button on the right side of the cabinet near the plunger. It's a pretty big part of the game but newcomers typically don't know it's even there.

I disagree, skill has nothing to do with it being considered gambling. I am a great golfer who could put trust in his skill and gamble with his buddies, but its never been for me.
I'm not saying its not a bad game, or that skill doesn't take place. I just really wish that aspect of the game were not there. I understand I am the minority here by far.

I have always disliked the aspect of games where you gamble points. Had a Who Dunnit for awile and just didn't like the feature at all. I also do not like the games with buy in feature. I always disable it in my settings.
I'm sure that by the time you get 100 responses, you'll have 100 different answers. Here's what I think would be a better approach.
Decide what kind of machine would appeal to you most. Such as fast play, deep ruleset, playfield toys, etc. Tell us what your preferences are and the community can tell you if JackBot lines up with your wants.
That seems like the best way to take advantage of the knowledge on this board.
Okay, you know.. I've been mulling selling my Jackbot for something else and buying another one later n down the road, but I can't do it. Every time I see those white arrows I just want to die. It's completely TRIVIAL AND STUPID, but DANGIT, IT MATTERS *TO ME*....BEYOND LOGIC!
Quoted from Frax:I've been mulling selling my Jackbot for something else
Shame shame

I've had a JB in a temp trade for a few months; it goes home tomorrow. It plays very much like a system 11 pin, which I think is a plus. The saucer kicks out SDTM a lot on this example, which kinda sucks the fun out of it. In league play, going for multiball is the only strategy that makes sense. Given the choice between this and Doctor Who, I'd go for Doctor Who.
