Just looking for some input on experience using this kit. Was the power supple adequate? Easy to get up and running? I only need flippers to start but figure getting the whole kit since I am going to need all the components eventually.

    Thanks for your input.

Hey! You should be able to get things up and running pretty quick. Here is a link to more information on the power setup: http://fastpinballdev.gdsocial.com/platform/hardware/fast-power/fast-power-filter-board/

Most people are adding pins and connectors to their order which would give you all you need, minus wire. This power supply was selected because it worked well in a pinball environment when paired with the FAST Power Filter Board.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you!

Do you have some specs on the 48v power supply? Just want to be sure it is beefy enough to drive flippers hard and quite a few coils. Thanks

Here is the same power supply as we bundle: https://www.jameco.com/z/SP-320-48-MEAN-WELL-AC-to-DC-Power-Supply-Single-Output-48-Volt-6-7-Amp-321-6-Watt_244770.html

What Is the purpose of the kit ?

That supply is also used in Spike 1. However, Stern went with a stronger one in Spike 2. I guess because it is on the weaker side but those machines still work fine. That is also the reason why we recommend a stronger PSU in our docs: http://docs.missionpinball.org/en/dev/hardware/voltages_and_power/voltages_and_power.html#high-voltage-48v-to-80v. Some headroom is a good idea when prototyping in my opinion. You can strip down later. However, the PSU definitely works fine for a lot of people and it is cheap which is probably why it is included in the kit.

It is the basics needed for starting a homebrew

I've got that exact kit and it's pretty much spot on for me. I'm running a standard body machine with sixteen coils (2 flippers, 3 bumpers, triple dropbank, some posts, some gates, autoplunger, etc) and the 48V PSU hasn't had any hiccups. I've spliced out an extra line of 5V for supplemental playfield power (optos and other sensors) and I even spliced out an extra line of 12V to power the LCD and NUC in the backbox. The 5-12V PSU doesn't seem to have any trouble with the load.

    Hope that helps!
